Still not a fan of the looks... Hopefully the performance makes up for it... Similar feelings about the GTR when it first came out

The Scud looks so hot compared to this...

I hope they let Pinni dictate every direction of the design next time. With Pinni, you don't let them 'contribute', you let them take over and do the job just like they did in the CS and Scud.

All this talk about performance, but it will still be slower and have a worse power-to-weight than the stock Mac 12C. I think they could have done better.
The 458 replacement... Now that one should be "speciale".

They are rivals, but also they are completely different cars.
Turbos vs/ NA,one faster than the other, one with soul and the other without it and the difference may continue..
The Mac 12C is in amazing car,but at least for me are not in the same segment of feelings.
And the 458 replacement probably will be crazy, but won't be NA.I take the Speciale this time.

In a way reminds me the Reventon. A rebodied 458 with a stronger engine and some exterior ''tricks''. Still prefer the simple 458.

at low revs did not sound much different than reg 458s.

The goofey winglets were hard to see from that distance and that light.

Thus, the car looked good to me.

Based on my 458 Spider I suspect that it will handle better than the Scud. Higher gforce and more speed thru turns and straights...faster is my guess.

    Désolé mon cher,
The 458 speciale will kill any stock MP4-12C (with Corsa option) in any track of the earth.

Why do you say that ?
Apparently the Macca is a monster on the track, especially when you put the right tyres on it.

Ok, I'm sold. Didn't like it on 8/20 based on the renderings but somehow seeing/hearing it via video on the street in Barcelona changes my perception. I think I'm beginning to see a pattern, i.e. Enzo, California in recent times that seems very consistent: slightly negative reaction on initial release, then acceptance/lust on live sightings/actual pics. Interesting effect, something unique to Ferrari/Pininfarina I think and a tribute to their ability to somehow always infuse a kind of emotion and passion and artistic attention to detail in their designs that other manufacturers can't seem to match like 'em or not.

P.S. Exception: still not liking the FF, sorry F/P. Maybe I have to drive one first ;-)

+1. Seriously, the sound was virtually nothing...how could the sound from that video seal the deal on a $350,000 purchase. BS

I have been checking Mclaren life to find threads knocking the 458. Most seem to think its very synthetic. Very interesting.
