Without a hint, and under cover of darkness, Ferrari brings the LaFerrari out to some barn in Monterey to privately show a couple people, leaving their dedicated buyers holding McLaren P1 brochures and scratching their heads over the Porsche 918, both prominently displayed during private VIP and public showings over the weekend!

Even if Ferrari's flag ship is sold out why not use it for what its intended for, customer appreciation and building brand loyalty? Instead, Ferrari left their loyal customers in the hands of their competitors such as McLaren, the only other capable rival IMHO, who scored, selling out their P1 and talking many 458 owners into trading their cars in for Macs!

We had a blast Monterey weekend, but there was a consistent frustration over Ferrari's arrogance and lack of enthusiasm towards their loyal customers and Tifusi.

So I ask... What has Ferrari done to win your Hearts and Minds , either as a loyal customer or enthusiast?

This site is always celebrating a new member to the club. Always some thread going about a guy with $45k, $75k, $100k and is searching for that first Ferrari. There are no shortage of enthusiasts with all manner of opinion what cars in the field would best suit. What's mclaren got for them? Time capule this and lets see what mclaren has for a following in another half century. Most of us don't deserve or expect Ferrari to kiss our asses. Not part of the owner experience for me.

Well, I suppose if Mclaren is talking "loyal" Ferrari owners into changing to McLaren, they aren't really loyal, are they. Who would do that anyway? Pimps and footballers, most likely.

Actually, that answers your question about what Ferrari has done to win my heart and mind; i.e. encourage Pimps, footballers, non-loyal Ferrari owners, and even those pesky Tifusi (sic) to buy a McLaren and sell their Ferrari to someone who might appreciate it.

So, after buying that second hand Ferrari from a former Tifusi, what has Ferrari done to win your heart and mind?

McLaren example is one of many, virtually all the car companies were hosting parties and activities both private and public all over Monterey over the weekend to capitalize on winning the hearts and minds of those in attendance.

    So...

    Again...

What has Ferrari done for you or during an event like Pebble or Goodwood or whatever to win your Heart and Mind?

Ferrari hasn't done anything to "win my heart or mind". I could give a rats @$$ about what Ferrari thinks quite frankly. If this is a "well I'm a loyal customer because I've bought three new cars from them.. but they haven't invited me to the private showing"

Aw. Boo hoo. There's someone with even more money than you and they got the invite. They don't HAVE TO respect their "loyal customers" because there's ten guys that are wealthier in the far east that are eager to fork over cash that their trust fund left them for five brand new cars.

Granted, I don't go to Pebble or any of those events. I also don't go to the dealership.. and If.. rather When.. I buy a "new" Ferrari, I don't know if I will buy it through a dealership but rather from a second hand source. Just like that F12 on Ebay. It's economics. If you need that sort of coddling, go to McLaren.

So I guess to directly answer your question... nothing. And I don't care.

That seems really weird when La Ferrari was on public display at the dealers here (Hong Kong) for a weekend. Just parked on the showroom floor, no cordon and anyone was welcome to look, photograph, ask questions etc. Only thing odd to me was the place wasn't packed with tifosi!

Might still be in the works? We always have a party at FOW when a new model comes out and to the best of my knowlege there hasn't been one for F70. One problem for the guys that "can" afford them is there won't be nearly enough to go around. My dealer told me they had five qualified customers and an allocation of one. Whoever it is, he may not want his car the centerpiece of a major unveiling, right? I can see where that would piss off the majority of your elite customers, but the answer clearly isn't to produce five times as many. There will ultimately be some resold and the market will set the price.

In the USA - Ferrari is your local dealer. In my case the dealer has always been great, generous and a friend to me. FNA and Ferrari Factory - dont have to do anything becuase unlike McLaren, Ferrari are not trying to establish a brand. actually the more elusive Ferrari is the more people want one.

Ever try dealing with FNA? - they are insuffrable, arrogant etc...cause there is NO other brand like Ferrari. when the old man was in charge - he sold you what he wanted ... and you either took it or left it... cause he knew someone else will pay the same or more.... that walk away power still works for Ferrari.

as for hearts and Minds - if you are a Ferraristi ( truly ) then what you love is the art of the car, that is what Ferrari is about. its a mixture of history, the man and racing tied into a road car.

some more "modern" Ferrari owners who would switch to McLaren, Pagani etc... are ( in my opinion) simply wanting some thing "exotic and fast" ... they really dont care what the badge is they just want to be seen in and or experiece speed...

Folks who are buying a La Ferrari - already have an Enzo, F50, F-40 or are clienti F-1 ... they need no introduction... therefore why they get the private showing.

Ferrari would have drove the LaFerrari onto Pebble Beach lawn and display it under the spot light if they could have......

Don't worry, languages here in the USA adopt wrong spellings and pronunciation, but its the english language thats at fault for that phenomenon. I still wonder why the Marines say here "semper fi" and not fidelis. Also "fi" with the English sound for the letter "I", so wrong. Why only use the first syllable, these guys give it all so what does it take to say a simple full Latin word.
