If anyone is near Verell (Unobtainium Supply - Groton, MA) please get in contact with him as he is looking for some donations of the seat adjuster covers (you know - the coated plastic ones that break) to measure so he can produce a mould and make them for us. Verell says he just needs samples to copy then he will return them.
Can anyone help - I would but I am on the opposite side of the world (about as far away as you can get) and there must be a kind hearted soul that is closer.

Hi Jim, thanks for that. Verell is at Unobtainium Supply [[email protected]] There have been various threads about people wanting these covers and Verell is prepared to do them so we should support that.

I don't know if the C4 is the same Swissbob - will have to check when I am back in Australia. Don't worry about the language - we all understand cartalk.

    Tassie,
Thanks for starting this thread, but next time please tell me;), I just discovered it by accident.

Ak Jim, As for sending me a loaner, my website URL is the same as my eMAIL domain name & the contact info has the address.

Is there anyone who can verify that the fiat spyder covers are the same except for finish?
I have contacts for finishing plastic, & would be hard put to match that price for a 4-piece set!

Also, the Mondial8 covers look very similar, but are satin silver instead of chrome, anyone know if they are the same base part?

Swissbob, I can confirm that the 365 GTC/4 seat adjuster covers are the same as the 400's. I am not sure if they are the same as the Fiat ones - guess I will buy a set to check as I need one. The Fiat ones don't seem to be chrome coated being the only difference.

If they are the same getting those plated would be the way to go. A while back somebody here was talking about making some out of aluminum, wonder what happened to that project? I think I should wait until we determine if the Fiat ones are the same before I send mine off.

Before you go yanking yours off, remember why they break in the first place. There is one screw holding them in from the back side. When I first told someone that they interpreted that to mean from the rear. Not so, the screw comes in from the back as you look at the face of the part. I believe it takes some partial dismantling of the seat to get that screw out or you can just yank on the part and break it!

I have a reasonable used spare now and will be doing the swap as part of my winter R&R, so I will know better in a month or so.

Mr Fiat is clearly the way to go. It is not the only Fiat part on these cars!

Years ago, I solved the problem of reseating these blasted things by puting a dolop of silicone onto the inside of the piece, thus eliminating the screw. This allows you to gently pry it loose when necissary. This has worked very well for me. I hope that this is of some help. I can lend mine for mold making if all other sources fail. Jq.

    Hi Verell

If you still need to see them in person, I can bring my car over to you.

I just bought a set of the black ones. The pictures will be a big help. If they look close, then yes, Aiden I'll ask you to come by when convenient.
