It looks like it has a go-tee up front. Proportions are not right.

Will it perform? OF COURSE. Does it look good? Nope. For the stripped out cars the Scud/16m still ranks supreme.

Because Ferrari can sell a few hundred at a ridiculous price. The street cars are built and sold to support the race team.

Once again, the performance should be there. And those who crave that track oriented hyper experience should love it. And it is not a bad looking car. Just more generic looking than the base 458.

imo a "plain" 458 looks "generic". I mentioned somewhere seeing a red spyder from a hundred yards back on a freeway and thought it was a pontiac. Approaching from the rear the car looked non-descript. Overall, the 458 is a good looking car, but imo needs colors and maybe a little carbon fiber, in order to bring out its lines and character. However, the added "touches" made to the 459S do not appear (from pictures) do not enhance its looks, making it clear to me the car is targeted for those who will track the car and may appreciate increased horsepower, less weight, and aerodynamics. Best

    +Scuderia! ;)
    I'm with you.

I did not buy a Scuderia because it is a beauty (let's be honest, there are more beautiful cars available then a Scuderia). No, I bought it because this car conveyed the ferrari "racing soul" best to me (I'm talking about "driving emotions", not acceleration capabilities on a straight road...).

Now, if the Speciale can convey the same "soft values" as the Scud, then maybe I'll change. And as I know Ferrari, the Speciale will at least provide the same "soft values" with clearly better performance figures (more engine and break power, more intelligent assistance systems, a much better power to weight ratio). With the 458 Challenge they have already proven that it works...

Regarding the Speciale design: for me it is important that the design will produce aerodynamic efficiency and, also very important for me, the car clearly differentiates itself from the standard 458. And if a have a look on the pictures and on all these comments, the Speciale does it.

At the moment, my expectations are fulfilled. Of course, next I have to drive one.

What I've read and heard so far, as a "product", as a "total package", the Speciale is the worthy Scuderia successor, the new benchmark in the Ferrari mid-engine history.

Very good recapitulation about what a potential owner of this car is looking for. As I wrote yesterday, when I (or you too of course) will fit "inside"...I will appreciate what the car delivers more than how it was designed "outside".
Don't forget that there is a clear sentence on the special webpage dedicated to this car..:
the design was subjected to the aerodinamic needs (and so at the end, performances). The focus in this car were the performances not the elegant design. Who forget this, can't judge the car with serenity in my opinion.
And about the animals, ispiring Ferrari to design this car, didn't happen the same with the standard 458?:)) Just kidding of course..

...and the great thing is that the car, talking about design, has nothing wrong ...

    :)

the 458 Italia rear came from the Blue Sky Studios, now the 458 Speciale rear comes from GM. Hope the 458 successor rear will come from Apple!

it's just a joke, also my thread article before with the Corvette picture... ;)

Actually GTR is mostly for conquering laptimes and out of corner grip. Launch control - now that's something else..... I would describe it as physically traumatizing.

I have claimed that the 458s looks more "generic" than the 458. That doesn't mean that it is any less dramatic or attention getting. It could be considered more so. But what it does mean is that it is less original and less integrated, styling wise. Look at your favorite tire ad where someone has done a rendering of a sports car. Invariably it is a generic design. When I look at the McLaren MP4-12C, I can see its design in a tire ad. Countless renderings of modern sports cars look like it. When I look at the 458, it looks different, well integrated and generally tasteful, and impressive in its details. It suggests that someone had thought long and hard about how to make it a single visual presence and how to please the eye. I don't get that impression from the 458s. In certain ways it looks more aggressive but it is (sorry) more generic.

But the 458s has a different purpose and a different market than the 458. So I am not knocking the car for what it is. It is just my "steely eyed" assessment of how it looks to me.

I believe the red parts in the diffuser are the rear active aero elements and not reflectors - inside the blue outline.

You may be right.....there are also two satellite red objects outboard of the central feature. Making them body colored is interesting. Imagine them in white.
