FYI, here is what Ferrari gave me on resetting the ECU. As I said, it is for a 360 but Ferrari told me it was the same for a 355. The annotations at the top are from Ferrari.

Great thank you. I just had cel s come back on for the second time and just cleared them again. Next time I will do the correct ECU dump and then decide how to proceed.

On a 355 ODB II you need to clear the codes with a scanner after disconnecting the battery otherwise the code reset will not stay in place. To put it another way, disconnect the battery first. Once you re-connect the battery then clear the ODB II codes. Then do you start-up and drive cycles. Make sense?

Ok this is where confused. How are you clearing codes with the battery dc?

    Do you mean this order:

    Turn on blinker
    Turn off battery overnight
    Turn on battery
    Clear codes
    Go through relearn protocol

    ????

Hey Kettle, nice to see your car is working great.
As for clearing codes and resetting the ecu...yes a pita. That's just one of the reasons why owning a 2.7 is great.

Guys, let's not go down this rat hole again. I started a new thread to avoid precisely this kind of back and forth carping.

Again, some folks here are making sweeping assumptions and then going hogwild on tangents based on those flawed assumptions.

To be clear, I have properly cleared the codes in the past. So, the idea that no baseline was set and, hence, that it is not possible to properly evaluate whether the GCK install is the reason for the improvement is simply not true. My point was that I did not do a FULL drive cycle hard reset EACH time I replaced a sensor, only early in the process and then on Monday.

I hope that settles it. Let's move on, shall we?

FBB, thanks for the input. I have an Innova OBD2 reader so will need to figure out how to find the readiness settings on it. Will advise.

Ketel, it's your thread so I don't want to go off topic, but all one has to do is to read posts 7, 8 and 9 to see that by your own words you were not following the correct procedure to clear the codes. If you had been following the procedure recommended by FBB in post 7, you would never have seen the 11 codes you reported in post 1 of this new thread. You wrote posts 8 and 9 where you clearly state you were following a different procedure. What am I suppose to think?

That clearing process mentioned in the FNA bulletin is crazy! Sounds like you have to wear a tin hat to pull this off too. Sure glad I have a 348. ;) Also, congrats on your success to the OP. Let's hope the gremlins stay away, now banished by new terminal pins (of whatever material) and your hard work. :D

I have the same reader as you. Its very simple to know if any ECU'S are not ready. Plug in the reader and if any of the icons are flashing the ECU'S associated with the flashing icon is not ready.

Yes, thanks, I have since reviewed the manual online (I'm at the office so not near the actual scanner) and it appears to be the way to check readiness.

About the gold kit - I have started installing it yesterday and changed 6 terminals for now - the ones for the 2 MAF sensors and the 4 that go on the coil packs. Then started the car to see if everything is connected like it should and I must say, that she started easier than before on cold start. Maybe it was a coincidence, I don't know. I still haven't driven her since then, but I will see how it goes in the next days... Also one of the good things of this kit is that it has all new connectors for the O2 sensors (2 in my case). I wanted to replace my O2 sensors and now seems to be the perfect time, because of a simple reason - I can just buy universal Bosch O2 sensors, which are exactly half of the price of the ones, which are made especially for the model. And the difference is only in the connectors. But now, when I have the OEM spec connector from the gold kit, I can just buy the universal O2 sensors and replace their universal connectors with the ones from the gold kit and they will fit perfectly. So this is a good $200 save in that case.

Universals have always worked fine for me too. In 30 years I don't think I have ever bought an OEM Ferrari 02 sensor.

Tim are you like 12 or 13 years old and none of the kids on the block will play with you?

Get a life little boy and go play in the 308 and 512 section you have become a nuisance here.

I thought through Dave's closing working relationship with Bosch he got them to manufacture O2 Sensors that are tailored to the 355. I am not 100% sure though. I was going to ask him about them soon since my O2's are at least 10 years old.
