We have been working on this 3500 GTi for the past few months and wanted to share some photos of the process. The car had been sitting for the past 15 years or so. The engine was completely seized and the brake system will also need to be rebuilt. The owner does not want to restore the car at the current time, but wants it to be cleaned up and made drivable once again. A very special moment to be pulling this out into sunlight after so many years. On to the pictures!

Lovely! But the distance between a nice patina and bad condition can be veeeery small.......!

Thanks for posting the photos. I noticed the car has power windows and also window handles. Were the window handles a backup in case the motor fails or do they serve another purpose? I have never seen those before on a Vignale spyder.

Ivan, it could be possible that they were added after the production of the car, I will have to take a closer look

I've never been in one of these-but it actually "feels " more like a twin plug, DB/4 GT race car motor than a 300S...and I've been in both of those...

Here is shot of how corroded the stuck cylinder was. Appears to have been sitting in coolant for the past 10 years, took some pounding to get it free after the block was removed from the vehicle.

Great looking car and photos, thanks. Would you mind providing the VIN of the car. Also, will you have to replace the frozen piston or do you now have to replace all six? I broke a piston during my rebuild that I couldn't replace and had to buy all new J & E pistons from MIE. I hope you will keep up the neat thread.
