Just found that reality show about Dempsey preparing for Le Mans on the Discovery channel. Pretty good actually. Not sure the guy is as good as they make him out to be but following an independent team on this long journey is intersting.
very good show! I enjoyed it and fan of Patrick as actor and racer. I think he's careful and a better driver than the average celebrity or rich gentleman driver, but I figured after that many years of racing he would have already graduated from the "spins" stage. Took me 2 years of SRX7 racing to graduate from the "spins" stage. They made a big deal about them getting a podium at Lime Rock, there were only THREE teams!!!
I like the show as well. Didn't realize 3rd at Limerock was also last. Funny. I wonder if there were any teams that didn't finish.
no, only 3 P3 cars in field. they finished 6 laps down and fastest lap was 2.5 seconds slower than 1st and 2nd. insult to injury Scott Tucker won the race! http://www.alms.com/results/race?year%5Bvalue%5D%5Byear%5D=2012&race=600&=Apply
I see Patrick and Joe are in a GTC car this year. What kind of car is that? Did they end up racing at Le Mans? Doesn't seem their results from last year would have qualified.
While working with the race series last year I saw quite a bit of him and we spoke every now and then at various tracks and he was never standoff-ish... even after wrecking the car at Petit. He was just a cool racer to be around and no egotistical attitude in sight. Great guy and nothing negative to say about him. His pairing with Foster is a very good one and his knowlege base is there for Patrick to tap into. Joey (Foster)advised him not to run at Baltimore last year, as he wasn't quite 'ready' for that type of course in the LMP2. lol he didn't want Patrick to -'**** his pants in the car' 1st pic from Road America with Joey, other pics from Petit Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
what is the update of Lola since they went bankrupt? still operating under protection or did someone come to rescue?
I didn't get the impression they were trying to play him up as bieng good yet, just that they wanted to show his intense desire and methodical approach to getting good. In fact they went out of the way to point out that Newman was not very good for years, but he becamse a very good driver through endless lapping and learning.
And just as things seem to settle down... EXCLUSIVE: Patrick Dempsey, Tully?s Michael Avenatti Part Ways | SPEED | The Motors On FOX Blog [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ht2GociMJXs[/ame]
reading this article and from watching part 1 it just reinforces to me if you really want to enjoy yourself and have fun then don't make it a business. Being a professional racing driver and team owner is a business. why not just arrive and drive with an existing team? take all the money, sponsor, and preparation headaches out of the picture. Just show up and race for fun.
Probably because he wouldn't get a drive if he didnt have the clout & $$ to get a seat. Same ole story in every series.
Hey now Rob, no Tucker bashing deserved here..you won't see it on TV but Tucker also owns that LOLA they were driving. Those guys are working hard and Scott was trying to help out.
My wife likes Dr. McDreamy very much. Her response to the first episode: this is really pretty boring. She is not anxious to see the next three episodes.
Somehow episodes of Grey's anatomy are a much easier sell in our house too than more of this show. BTW: While racing fans are not terribly impressed when I tell them I met Dempsey in Laguna Seca, it is an instant hit with any female audience at a cocktail hour. For me the coolest thing Dempsey ever did was when he "nailed" Barbara Carrera in "Loverboy" while driving her Ferrari. As a teenager. He became my instant hero right then and there.
