Yes - definitely writing articles based on things they read in forums and they appear to have identified the information Michael shared as first hand from a Ferrari engineer, which he would plainly deny being, I am sure. They also seem to be keying off an earlier post someone made (might have been Michael again?) about the production date slipping from the earlier plan of October. FerrariChat literally "makes" the news. >8^) ER
GTE, this be your lucky day. I gift you the opportunity to save you some moneys to make your GTE sound like a racingcar. What you want, V8? V10? V12? Be smart with your moneys, and even you can be impressive for your friends. Click here: SoundRacer
They did, they just didn't credit me, but the trade off appears to be that I'm now a Ferrari engineer. Funny I don't recall working on the F150 project. Additionally they've added (Made up) a lot of "information" that I didn't post. Thank you . I'm fairly certain I'm not a Ferrari engineer, unless you count the models I built when I was a kid . I get that they used my post, but where did they get the idea that I was an engineer and why did they add all of that "information"? Ferrarichat is actually a great deal more reliable than many auto-news sites, but you already knew that.
you can't do a mess like this with P1 or Huayra [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nfM9ZPOFegQ]DUAL FLAMETHROWER - Epic Aventador Rev Battle - YouTube[/ame]
A few interesting developments. From a reliable source 918 ride and drives have been "postponed" at 20 US locations. "Supplier issues" ?? Some here claim La Ferrari pushed out as well. From a different reliable source P1 is "only" 7:04 at The Ring: "It was lapping solo in the morning, hunting times, source is 100% trustworthy. Question is; will they get another chance to improve it with good weather The engineers think under 7 minutes is 'easy'. Results speak otherwise..." It may be that all of thier Ring times are going to be higher than I thought. McLaren told me they'd be near our 6:51 but I'm not so sure. Porsche told me "Below 7" and Ferrari told the World "Below 7". The Ride height required at The Ring may not enable any of them to make the downforce they need. Their KERS systems may not be optimal for The Ring. P1 vs P 4/5 C. P1 has much more HP, better brakes, same weight, but less downforce (2800 vs 1300lb) and likely less mechanical grip at Ring ride height. (We make 2.8G+) Interesting and surprising if this time is real.
Too many idiots with these cars especially in London during the summer....when it's too hot in the Gulf! Sad to see these cars used only like this and give a bad image to other owners
Not 918 vs p1 but Porsche vs Mclaren [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=glQFTY7rmxI]Drag race: Porsche 911 Turbo S vs McLaren 12C - 0-60mph sprint - YouTube[/ame] 2.9 seconds! Holy ****
I highly doubt P1 will be anywhere near the P 4/5 ring time of 6:51, but I believe porsche would be under 7" I won't be surprised if the 918 ends up the fastest. I like how porsche gives conservative numbers and always exceed expectations, instead of giving outrageous numbers that they can't really deliver. A reliable source has also confirmed 918 will carry a 9yrs warranty, Car will be supported as battery tech improves, that means car cells can be upgraded to have more power and less weight. I think porsche has done a wonderful job with the 918 and I believe it could be a hyper that will get better, lighter and more powerful with age.
For McLaren's P1 to drop below 7 minutes we are only talking a mere 5 seconds on a 14 mile track, surely the car has it in it. Pete
even at 6:59, it's still somewhat slow for a nearly 1000 hp car with active aerodynamics, electronics etc... Bellof did a 6:11 lap in a 956 Porsche, a car with an estimated 600-650 hp and 800 kg, having absolutely no driver aids, 30 years ago.
That was an amazing lap but you can't compare it to today. The Ring was much smoother then and he got a huge tow and slingshot from another 959.
The B******t is stopping ... on Akebonos! Did The McLaren P1 Just Obliterate The Lap Record At The Nurburgring? Did the McLaren P1 Complete the Nurburgring in 7:04? At this pace next time up will be slower than my granny. And Autocar even tried to block the the drag race clip from viewing ... wasn't the P13 supposed to be a 911 competitor? After the Mp4 got trashed by both the gt3 and the turbo?
It is never news, whether it is in finance, politics, science and technology, sports, or.... autos. It is invariably a talentless, fatally incurious jerk of a writer dashing off a piece of slop to either get paid or generate some hits.
So what? Even the old generation Turbo S was quicker than the 12C from 0-100 kph. And as PAXAH said, the 458 and California will get obliterated by the Porsches.
Ferrari never promised "the fastest thing on four wheels" and regarding the question marks it seems that with any new one half a minute gets added to the lap time, while the source is always mclaren one way or another. Also a Speciale might do better than both, lap time wise, while looking as cool as an Eskimo.
it's hard to believe that 918 with removable roof is the fastest from them all but I would be very happy if that's true
True: Is LaFerrari Development Lagging Behind Schedule? But it's also true that if the P1 is slower than the 918 or slower than 7:00 at the ring after all its one lap battery optimisations, someone, not necessarily you, will deserve a big humble P1E. See what I've done there?
