i have a 430 scud and guess what I love how the 458 S looks too and i bet performance wise it will be evil.

Can't wait to see it in person and then will decide to get one or not.

 

Anyone else see a lot of Stingray in that rear? Maybe it's a good thing they moved the exhaust.

Rear grill area recessed/black lights recessed.
Area between lights is a trapezoid flowing up vs flowing down.
Rear bumper gets flat, especially at the edges.

It's like the shapes and contours are just upside down.

Look closer and you'll see they both have four wheels.


Aerodynamics dictate similar design solutions. Beyond that there's little styling commonality.

Well, they are both red.

 

Actually it doesn't because the P1, LF, 918, GTR, Aventador, F12 and other very well designed cars look absolutely nothing alike.

IMO the 458S rear and C7 share styling aspects. Put the stock 458 exhaust on the 458S and it would look even more so.

 

I'm not sure how you guys don't see the similarities in lines and contours. Here, all I did was copy some flat, different color pieces from the 458 to the C7. I think the C7 borrows some from the 458 and the 458 borrows some from the C7.

I agree, they look very similar especially the lower bumper and middle trunk area under the badge.

 

Active aero in front and back. Front driven by air pressure, and rear by actuators above 220kmh. That's the red flap/reflectors that has been highlighted.

New brakes from LaFerrari incorporate air cooling tunnels. Newer gen magnetic suspension, new alloys in engine/piston/pin/conrod, has lightened engine by a significant amount. New wheels, brakes and discs amount to around -13kg unsprung.

This car offers these and many other new cool technical details and we are speaking ..page after page about what?? If I would be Ferrari's management I would smile and say: they are never happy boys...! We put there the brake system of our top model...we reduce " the unsprung weight " (more agility) by a significant 13 kg...we make a new generation magnetic suspension to allow (probably) a new level of confort in a raw car (something unknown in the previous model)..we improve aerodinamic...engine and so on..and they even don't make any comment and prefer to speak about elegance and style??? But I am not Ferrari's management so I just say: I really start to understand why they called her Speciale...!no complain by my side..

 

Do you really think Ferrari copy anything GM does ? On the other hand, the 458s is based on the 458 and Chevrolet has a long history of copying Ferrari design on the Corvette.

The similarity is due to this fact. However the Vette has more of the F12 in it.

 

Do we know that the two were being designed on a timeline that allows for "borrowing"?

 

I doubt very much whether Ferrari "borrowed" from GM. Rather the similarity makes the point that both designs are generic looking; so of course they will look like they borrowed from each other. The novelty and creatively integrated styling of the 458 rear has been lost.

 

There's more similarity between a Ford Fusion and an Aston Martin...

 

No one can debate this. Explorer looks like range rover. All same designer.
