Well played. Vandy leaned too heavily on Mathews at the end, though.

The mighty Mean Green of the University of North Texas began the season with a win over the Idaho Vandals. 40-6. Woot!

Defense and special teams looked fabulous.

    Two problems on Offense:
#1: Amari Cooper was playing wounded, and it showed. 4 dropped passes and he couldn't outrun his coverage. So when the deep route was desired, Coach had to call Christian's #22 (passing TD reception, Kickoff Return TD, Punt Return TD all in his first game of the season).

#2: the Offensive line looked weak.

Oh, and I love the Maziel haters. Guy scores 3 TDs from 6 passes and only plays 1 Quarter and still looks better than the rest of the league.

Yeah, the losers are gonna start trash talking and hatin'.

Typical. Low-brow. Low class, but typical of J.Football's opponents.

ESPN had every single one of their commentators take free cheap shots on air at Manziel in order to fire up opposition to him from the neanderthals who listen to their nonsense.

No balance. Not a single ESPN commentator was allowed to say "He played great!"

It was so bad that a Rice defensive player tweeted to rebuke what they were claiming Manziel was saying on the field.

The Rice player was there. ESPN just blabs from the sidelines like any benchwarmer.

Ahhh so now I see who your team is...before you rip on my Buckeyes' schedule, should I mention that you guys play powerhouses Rice, Sam Houston State (quick everyone reading this thread tell me what thier mascot is...sorry, time is up) and SMU?

You can rip on our schedule all you want, that non-conf schedule doesn't impress anyone either.

Best games so far this year:

    Rebs and Vandy
    Clemson and Georgia

Not having a dog in either fight (is that PC?), these were terrific games where those kids played with a lot of heart.

I was at the Bama - VT game. It's always funny listening to Alabama fans complain when we beat a team 35-10 (spread was 19-20 IIRC). "OL sucks, play calling sucks", etc. I heard plenty of that last night and read the same thing from all the experts this morning.

The VT DL will arguably be the best we play all season. Bama's OL is certainly a work in progress but in Saban I trust. Remember, those big guys are all 4-5 star recruits and he knows a thing or two about talent. The Tide will get it sorted out. Look for an offensive explosion against A&M. Didn't Rice hang 31 on them?

Defense looks REAL good. One busted play on the VT long run but it's still a gem of a game. Overall, it's nice to blow out an opponent when one facet (offense) of the game was basically ineffective. Good stuff for Saban to focus on over the next two weeks.

Props to Ole Miss and Clemson. The knock on them lately is not being able to finish. This weekend will give both teams momentum. Georgia is always slow out of the gate and it doesn't get easier for them until October. If Richt can't motivate the Dawgs after a tough, physical loss, the season could get away from them quickly.

They all said he played great on the field but they also said its this small petty bs that will wreck him as not only a leader(already has, not team captain) of this team but as a leader of a future NFL team.....

You dont blow off the coach, you dont do any thing like was done after youve already been suspended for the first half...

Not only that they have two other players ejected(one for fighting, and the other for neck/head hit)......That isnt championship material. But its ok their D is pretty weak anyways so they need to get that in order no matter how well M plays.

M lost a lot of fans yesterday and a ton of credibility as a leader with both his coach and im sure a few fellow players....

Oh good grief. You've managed to parrot back what the ESPN losers spewed. Congrats. That was their goal. They had no balance; not a single announcer was allowed to defend Manziel.

The reality is that Manziel is completely comfortable on the field and in the limelight...being Manziel.

He's not acting. He's just out there patting guys on the shoulder pads and telling players from both teams when they've done a good job.

He jokes about autographs and money on field. Gasp! You'd think that football was watched by octogenarian church choir women instead of by real men.

Get over the faux Victorianism prudism. It's outdated.

The kid's a winner. His team isn't in disarray; isn't fighting with themselves or blaming each other for mistakes.

Every media outlet took shots at Manziel during the entire off-season, and ESPN was flummoxed to see that none of that got inside his head.

The media diss-fest doesn't work against Manziel.

As for A&M's defense...ESPN kept claiming that 4 A&M defensive starters were suspended by Sumlin.

...but 7 starters were suspended. Manziel for the 1st half, A&M's starting cornerback for the first half (who then got ejected after playing the 3rd Qtr), and 5 other Defensive starters for smoking weed.

So yes, it is true that Rice hung 31 points onto that Defense...which was playing with only 5 starters (a decision that came just before gametime...with no opportunity for practicing with the 2nd stringers as first string).

Of course, that Rice team returned 23 starters from last season where they won their last 7 games in a row including their bowl game. You are talking about a seasoned team facing second stringers.

A&M gets all of those suspended players back for the Alabama game.

I picked your Buckeyes for the BCS championship this year (though Clemson could do it)...facing A&M.

It's a bit much for a Buckeye's fan to diss A&M's schedule strength, though. A&M faces #1 Alabama, a likely Top 10 LSU, and then a Top 10 SEC East team in the SEC Championship game. Plus, A&M will play a likely Top 20 Ole Miss.

3 Top 10 teams plus a Top 20 team to reach the BCS Championship.

The Buckeyes will face, at most, two Top 20 teams. So Buckeye fans shouldn't be dissing A&M's strength of schedule.

When your own coach says youre being an ass then its a safe bet youre being an ass........

And if you ever have to justify why Rice is giving you a run for your money then yes you have problems....

Just have to wait and see what happens with bama to know if they resolve them.....

The kid needs to shut up and play the game though, more than just I or people outside the school think that. As said even his own coach is telling him to shut up...

Don't forget he got sent home by the Mannings from their passing academy this summer. Wow he threw three touchdowns against Rice in one half of play??? Guess the A&M fans still aren't used to being in the SEC where it is expected to score against teams like Rice.

Clemson/UGA was solid kick off for th season. Clemson looks like real deal but UGA did lose a bunch of starters after last yr. Looking forward to seeing T Boyd at the next level-after he walks away with the heisman-

OSU vs Clemson in the nat championship. OSU will be undefeated and Clemson will have enough time to recover from a very close loss to the 2 loss Noles!

I'm not, I just think all of the big schools play a bunch of cupcakes and then usually one decent school in the non-conference.

If we (Ohio State) end up against Bama this year they will beat us for sure, but not sure they will get there...everyone in the SEC has that game circled on their own schedules. The second thing is I don't think we will get there. I picked us at 10-2 and heading to a new year's day bowl in Florida. We'll see what happens.

My best friend at work is an A&M grad. I really like the guy so my guess is we could sit down and break bread too....:D

Alright-maybe Clemson's loss to the Noles won't be that close. Who wasn't blown away by this kid Winston! I know it's Pitt but it's a road game, first start, hell-first snaps ever. I would have started Coker on experience alone. Wow. I guess Jimbo F really does know how to find these QBs-and when to play them.

FSU looks like the real deal this year. Winston will be awesome if he is consistent. Jimbo has a knack for finding inconsistency usually... Watch out for NC State!

I think I'm still hungover from the NC State game last yr! FSU lost a lot on D-and you could see it last night. They have the players but Clemson will be the early test. Then there is the yearly final exam with the gators, they'll be ready
