Lots of wishful thinking in this threat. Think again about weight, power and aerodynamics...

0-100 kph is meaningless nowadays. It only shows traction off the line, not raw speed. The 997 Turbo S was quicker than a 458 to 100, but when they got up to 200, the Ferrari had caught up and above that it obliterated the Porsche. Maybe it's one of the slower F458s... or a customer car :)

I am sorry but that's a load of crap. We don't know whether these cars were stock or not. We didn't even hear the LC in the Ferrari kicking in. This video is as valid as Obama's claims for Syria! Then again you may prefer a single random video rather than the scientific approach of a dozen reputable car magazines around the world.

But with magazines the problem is Ferrari is often giving them ringers to test.

A month or two ago, german magazine AutoBild tested a customer F458 Spider and achieved only 12.0 s to 200 kmh.(tested at 25 C air temperature). In comparison, MP4-12C spider did it in 9.4 s(though tested in lower temperature than F458).

We were on Hard Compound slicks and they were on "Street" tires but still there's a huge difference between 7:04 and 6:51.

I'm beginning to think that it's downforce and mechanical grip at ride height needed to run the Ring that makes the difference.

There have been customer Italias that have done it in 10 secs. The Spider is a bit slower though.

MP4-12C is much faster than the 458 in a straight line, especially new cars with upgraded HP. 458 is slower than my CGT in a straight line, but 12C is noticeably faster. But not so sure about 12C in turns. Seems CGT and 458 are much faster. Not sure why yet. It may be lack of road feel in 12C doesn't inspire confidence or something else about that suspension, weight or throttle response. We see the same thing with the 12C at the Ring. It's slower than a CGT.

I still think LaFerrari will be the fastest followed by 918 and P1 last. Seems like too much sublet engineering in P1 and not enough in-house. That often hurts.

I would bet on 918... In the end, I don't think that the real-world weight difference will be that big between these cars, especially with LaF and 918. And 918 has 2 aces up it's sleeve, namely 2 driven axles and 4WS. On technically challenging tracks like Nordschleife, I expect 918 to beat the other two. On tracks that are smooth and fast I think it will be between LaF and P1.

Maybe it should be a best 2 out of three: Ring and proper race tracks: Monza and Spa (or Suzuka ?).

You forget to mention that :
    1) The Autobild comparo have been won by the customer 458 Spider
    2) The customer 458 Spider brakes an handles better than the press MP4-12C spider
As showed in the picture the 0,9 s laptime difference is create in sector with straights.

Last but non least, the weight of that 458 Spider (1552 Kg vs 1512Kg of the press Mp4-12C)
Press 458 Spider tested by Quattroruote 1562 Kg ....

Well, an upgraded 2013 McLaren would be quicker than a standard 458 which is unchanged since 2009 (actually it is worse than a 2009 Italia). The upgradede 458, the Speciale, will annihilate the McLaren.

Put Bellof in the driving seat of the P1 then. Surely the biggest factor on such a track is driver knowledge of it.

Yes, 4WD and 4WS will help offset 918's weight, making it comparable to LaFerrari. But then you need to add in what I think is LaFerrari's superior aero and acceleration.

I expect it may be a few years before any publication is ever able to get all three cars together for a comparison test

No I didn't. Apologies if I've offended anybody.

My point though was put in a driver who knows the Nurburgring as well and can drive as well as Bellof could. Driver means more to a lap time there than car IMO.

That's the point. Do I want a car that can break records only with a resurrected driver at the wheel or I want one that can break records with me in it? 918 wins that
