Regularly checking the market, I found this on offer in Germany:
Porsche 911 930 Turbo als Sportwagen/Coupé in Rheinbach

Same Speedo, but seller claims its a 77!?

Interesting - I believe Porsche equipped Japanese market 930’s with these unusual speedometers from 1976 to 1979.

A few additional scans (in addition to Joe’s post #188 and #192) from the January 1976 issue of Car Magazine. The issue featured “2 GOO”, a Porsche Cars Great Britain RHD ’75 Turbo demonstrator for the supercars face-to-face test. There were no Porsche 930 sales advertisements in the issue but there was a nice Ferrari Boxer and Porsche 911 ad included.

35mm Kodachrome slide of my 1975 Porsche 930 Turbo taken in June 1975 at the Colorado Alpine Porsche club event. Already registered with Colorado license plates (1976 Colorado Centennial plates were issued in 1975) and CB antenna installed.

Looks correct to me... there's some reflection from the red shirt.

Note the "Eagle County Sheriff" plaque on the plate.

I really have to take a moment to thank you for the value & wealth of information you have brought to this thread. Thank you!

Perhaps only you can help with the following:

    1. Can you do a compilation of all the test plates (such as S-CD 1337 as noted above) as we have seen photographed as used on all the 1974 & 1975 press/pre-production/early cars? Might be cool way to archive all those cars and later on match them up with chassis numbers as that info becomes available.

    2. Can you confirm how many 930s were produced in 1975?

    Thanks in advance!

    My pleasure Joe -

I have only seen the same early ’75 930 plates that are posted on this thread:

    Preproduction
S-AZ 3030 – Black with RSR front spoiler and oil cooler
    S-CD 1337 – Green
    S-CH 8158 – Gold
    S-CE 1919 – Black (Karajan) – this may not be a preproduction 930

John Starkey’s, “930 to 935, The Turbo Porsches”, has an appendix with an excellent compilation of 934/935 chassis numbers (very cool that most start with 930) that was sourced by Jurgen Barth. There’s not much on production 930 chassis numbers except mention of the Paris and British motor show (Sep/Oct 74) 930’s that were preproduction cars with chassis numbers 9305700014 and 9305700015. If this is the case, then Car Magazine’s Dec ’74 red RHD 930 with plate GLP 870N was probably a preproduction car (perhaps 9305700015). All the preproduction ’75 930’s probably had Carrera RSR brake calipers and perforated discs.

1975 preproduction 930’s ran through 9305700015, so total “production” would have been 269 (9305700016 to 9305700284).

I forgot to list this preproduction 930 that appeared in factory press literature. Although a black and white photo, it appears to be painted silver metallic but is not S-CH 8158 as it has a sunroof. This '75 930 is optioned the same as mine - non-optioned air conditioning and optional sunroof.

Here is another 1975 930 that appeared in press literature, it has a red interior and matching red Fuchs wheel-centers!

You just about make out a plate of S-CL 9XXX. Very cool.

Nice color combination; love the red anodized Fuchs. This is not a 1975 930 based on the power flag mirror but is interesting as it doesn’t have the rear fender gravel guards (shark fins).

The timeframe for when Porsche introduced 930 gravel guards is an interesting question as factory photos and vintage magazine road tests I’ve seen that depict ’75 930’s without them were all preproduction cars. The RHD 1975 930 “2 GOO” had gravel guards and it was not a preproduction car so perhaps “production” 75’s had gravel guards unless they had the optional Porsche script on the doors (like the Road Scholars ‘75 #242 - your post #1494).
