Back in the late 1950s and 60s I had several RHD cars.An Austin 7 special, MG TC, Morgan Plus 4 and an E Type. I was a lot younger then. And to pass took a peek to the right of the car in front. It can,or could, be done. tongascew

I owned one of the ex-SultanF40s until a few years ago. They definitely commanded a sizeable premium over the standard cars (about 25pct) even though they were Somewhat compromised - steering not as direct as the standard car due to the fact that they used a 308 rack. Alo the driving position was offset more than the left hookers.

+1 (Great to have some first hand knowledge)

Mike Sheehan wrote an artical in SCM a year or tw ago about the collection and he had actually seen the cars rotting away. I recall he went to value them (or try to) and said most were outside rotting away, mind you most were fairly common cars. Just a fairly freakin huge number of them.

Anyways back to the matter at hand.

Thinking mainly 1960's road cars I would say the figures equate in the present market......depending on the exchange rate......If a buyer resides in a LHD country he is obviously going to prefer a LHD car and the same in reverse for a RHD destination.....Some places such as HK ban the import of any LHD car so a RHD example is the only choice for a buyer there and he may be prepared to pay a small premium......I think it more depends on the availability in the market. Today decent cars are thin on the ground so compromises will be made where possible as the buyer has little choice. However say 15 years ago a 250 Lusso would make approx 20% premium to a RHD destination as there were only 22 UK supplied RHD cars and to the best of my knowledge only 19 remain......same with the 275 GTS...only 14 RHD cars out of 200 built. GTOs etc dont figure in this equation

Back in the 50's Ferrari used to build their race cars in RHD as it was believed that this was the best for racing.

I was told this during my Ferrari factory/museum tour which was very interesting to me....
