Good point, but sorry to bring you crashing down to earth. NONE of us could even break 8 minutes in any car at that track, none of us ... okay that is probably wrong as we likely have a couple of professional drivers that have raced there many times on this site, but for the rest of us if we got under 10 minutes I'd be impressed.

Yeah true, although the figure doesn't come directly from McLaren, so it might not be true despite others' claim of the source's credibility, so I guess we have to take it with a grain of salt gents.

Do the 918 headlight lenses not sit flush with the bodywork?

 

Personally I think the production version looks great much better than La Ferrari or P1. Porsche engineering is fantastic and if I were to buy any of them that's the one I'd buy.

That said I think all are WAY to complicated for the Street and KERS is great for racing but silly on the road and will be a maintenance nightmare.

Porsche is already working on a 918 without KERS and that is one I may be interested in for my next daily driver.

 

A perfect P-car would be 918 without the KERS system but with the evolved Carrera GT engine + PDK. The 918 V8 is great, but nothing sounds like that V10 monster.

What's this 4 seater Porsche supercar everybody is talking about? Websites MOST of the time tend to be wrong. A 4 seater supercar doesn't make any sense to me in the current Porsche line-up, there's the Turbo if you want a "supercar" with 4 seats. "960" is way more likely.

 

Porsche is not making any 2+2 918,

I think Jim is talking about the mid engined car (960) that would sit above the 911s, and that will not have the same engine as in the 918.

 

If the 7:04 time is true, it really does changed thoughts - and validates - what Jim
has been saying all along....how much of a ***** the ring is. Will be intersting if any of the three get below 7 minutes

 

Gumpert Apollo did a 7:11 with 700 hp. Should be doable with near 1000 hp, if only because of the gains made in the stright line(Gumpert is no faster than upgraded 12C in a straight line, but has much more downforce and stickier tyres).
