Wow. The vintage section of Fchat used to be a conspicuously civil place for folks to discuss old cars. Seems the oasis of civility has been sucked dry by litigants at their trough. Lets not play at their level and clean up this chat about a Ferrari, shall we? :)

Cool to hear confirmation the original block is back with the car. That goes a long way to "legitimize" (if not "cleanse") 0384AM, surely adding enormous value. I'm curious what the 34 (IIRC) remaining parts consist of. Anyone know/remember from the withdrawn auction years ago?

F-Chat seems to have become the web site of record, so to speak.
    Every blessing is mixed.

My comments were not directed at any individual. Apparently someone may have sent these PMs and if so my policy is not to get involved.I have posted my e-mail address on other F Chat threads. Again it is [email protected]. I don't mind taking criticism. I try to be as factual as my research provides. Most of what comes back seems to be more in the realm personal opinion rather than a factual discussion. An honest factual reaction is all I ask. tongascrew

Correct I am discussing"similarities". I have referred to published history from reliable sources regularly and I have never referred to D P as"the greatest and only expert". If you wish to disagree use quotation marks and quote me accurately. Finally I do disagree with Jim on occasion. I also agree that his contributions provide much of what is so good about FChat. tongascrew

Is using aliases part of trolling? I have been accused of "trolling" so I thought I might find out what trolling is to be sure I am not doing it. I have always been "tongascrew" and only "tongascrew" I guess I need a definition of "trolling" as I applies to F.Chat Thanks tongascrew

Alright; I'm a little dizzy now, after going through all of the 50 pages this amazing thread has.

One question though; on the early pages, I saw somebody mention Olivier Gendebien (former Ferrari F-1 driver, right?) and chassis number 0386... I don't quite understand how that chassis number plays a role on this story? I also saw an excerpt of someone convicted for extortion to Gendebien, is that correct? Was this person (I guess his name was Lombardo) related to Swaters?

If this is ever put into a book, I'd definitely run to the nearest bookstore the day it gets published!

    My brief synapse of #0384

    #0384 - stolen
    #0384 > renumbered #0394
    #0394 > renumbered #0384

375 Plus Pinin Farina Spyder 0386AM

    #0386 - destoryed in 1954
Favero/ Gendebien involved in building a new #0386 during the late 1980s using its original engine
Premieres at the Mille Miglia in 1993
Revealed by Lombardi as a fake
    Court case and eventual pardon
Some claims #0386 was actually #0384
Whatever happened to the "new" #0386 ?

Post #737 sort of sums it all up

In the March 2000 issue of Motor Sport magazine there is a seven page article entitled "Red Dragon" about what appears to be the "new" 0386. No mention is made to the 0386sn but mention of Farina's 1954 win at Agadir and the M.M. crash imply that this is the same car.Credit is given to the photographer but I can find no mention of the author. The text is a glossy rendition of the author's brief experience with the car.Fun reading but no details of the provenance of this vehicle. No mention is made of Bernardo Favero but for some reason the DNF after three miles in the 1993 M.M. is mentioned. I also have a post from "Aardy" to Boudewijn [date?] which states that the Farina car in the 1993 MM could be 0400AM. Maybe these two can shed some light on all this. tongascrew

I'm thinking this should be 0386. Farina's car at Agadir, Senegal and then wrecked at the MM.

The below should be 0384 at the Giro di Sicilia before the front end accident. Can anyone confirm? Copyright unknown.
