Jim we know that... But let's say the vast majority of people prefer not to really "mess" with their cars.
Personally I'd rather mess with them than not be able to see what's behind me and I know a LOT of people who modify their cars but understand many don't and simply live with them the way they are...
New unsubstantiated rumors trump older unsubstantiated rumors every time - didn't you know that? >8^) ER
What was the 12c's time? I thought I remember 7:28; if so, 24 seconds faster for the P1 is massive, but also expected
Yes, 7:28 from a driver who knows the track, but had never driven the car before and only made one attempt. P1's official time will be faster than 7:00 but nowhere near the 6:36 time that the blogs latched onto several weeks back. If the pavement was in better shape that sort of time might be possible. >8^) ER
No - that time was set by Horst von Saurma testing the car separately for Sport Auto magazine. >8^) ER
The Gtr Nismo should shave at least 10 seconds IMO from the 7:19, putting it very close to these hypercars. Bargain of the century?
Jimmy, you are a smart man, please do not disappointment. We are talking here about super super cars and this mean EVERYTHING is important, and the mostest is power/weight. You know how crazy much it weigh to put a camera plus a special television screen into a car to help you see a bigger image of what is behind you? Also I have more better things to do in my life than to always clean a small rear camera lens every time before I drive. Please Porsche do not over engineer such a simple thing just because you can. Anyway, the image in the screen completely full of a Ferrari horse or a McLaren swooshy up your booty would make to much pressure of your blood. This is not good for the heart.
Rearview camera's work very and I like them. Having run a 6:51 at the Ring I'm not sure that P 4/5 C has to worry about a "screen completely full of a Ferrari horse or a McLaren swooshy up it's booty." The last time we raced neither a Ferrari or McLaren finished withing 120+ places of us.
Latest rumour is that Porsche is trying to break the Radical's 6:48 record, Guinness crew included. Supposedly they will announce it next week if successful. They're testing hard right now at the NS. So my English is not so good. I mean a FerrariLaFerrari horse or a McLaren P1 swooshy up the Porsche 918 booty. A rearview camera for road can work well for reverse gear, not for general rear view on the auto road, especially here in Italy where we all like to drive with our car front piece touching the other driver in the booty.
If they can it will be very impressive! I think the key is engineering for Ring Ride Height which we raced at 4.5 inches. P1 may have engineered for too low a ride height to be ultra fast at The Ring.
When you read the Evo test of the GT3 vs the 12C with 116 less HP and the same time around a track you realize just how impressive Porsche Engineering is...
