I didn't see it mentioned here that Alonso tweeted:

    "@alo_oficial: This afternoon at 18:00 we do a Q&A #askAlo ! you will know firsthand all your questions .. ;) ! See you later ! Thaaaanks !"

    Sounds like announcements today.

Funny, as this makes zero sense at least seen from France: there was only one man at Renault who did support racing somewhat, he was Carlos Tavares who was n° 2 to Carlos Goshn, and he left the company ten days ago. Carlos Goshn, Renault C.E.O, is usually rumored to have no interest whatsoever in racing.

Although it seems a bit like rearranging deck chairs ( the car is the issue) driver talk is at least a fun distraction.

That's a cheap one from you: you've already got a Ferrari seat...
(or rather "steering wheel", as we say in France; drivers usually chase "volants" (= "driving wheels") here, not seats with the exception of "baquets", which is a racing seat)
But there has been fun this summer with the "silly season" indeed!

I think Massa has about a 5% chance of staying at Ferrari. If Alonso was to leave they'd grab Hulk.

The site said that was Ferrari's plan for continuity. I dont see this scenario developing. FA stays with Ferrari in my opinion. The second seat is not much of a priority overall. FA is still the focus of the team.

In that Phil's there to keep Alonso comfortable there'd be no reason to keep him if Zo jumped.

It's pretty clear from their quotes to the press who they are interested in.

So Lotus want him to replace none other than Kimi Raikkonen, Ferrari have been looking at him, and even Mario Andretti himself has said Hulk deserves a top ride. I've been singing his praises for awhile now, but hey, what do I know? :D

I said then McLaren should have taken Hulkenberg. I also said Button would beat Perez easily this year.

If I remember right, you were a BIG supporter of Perez, saying how any team would be at his doorstep so there was no reason to "waste his career" at Ferrari, future WDC, etc. so let's not go there.

Pretty much everyone if LdM is to be believed....

I can't be bothered to search, but I'm almost certain you were one (of many, admittedly) who wanted young Sergio in the seat last year. Still feel that way now he's getting his doors removed pretty consistently by JB?

Another of your hot choices IIRC was Heiki. Now, the Caterham is crap, but he's barely turning better times than Pic & VDG on Fridays. Still want him?

We know you'd put a monkey in the car if it meant Phil was gone, and that's fine, everyone's entitled to their opinions. But your blind hatred of the man who's served the Scuderia with loyalty, honesty & dignity over many years has warped your perspective IMO. Not to mention coming damn close to a WDC not long ago.

    Cheers,
    Ian

If Ferrari had no other option and it was down to Perez and Massa I would push for Perez all day. Sergio has had growing pains but that is to be expected for his first year in a big team. Massa has no excuse.

You and a few others on here are some of the few delusional people that refuse to accept what the rest of the F1 world knows and has known for years: Massa doesn't have it anymore. Hoping and wishing for a return to his '08 form is a waste of time because it is never going to happen.

This is not true, I never pushed for Kovalainen. Would have taken him over Massa, sure, but never wanted the team to go for him.

You're problem is you're a huge fan of his so you're bitter that he has sucked for years and proved me right and you wrong time and time again. Who cares what he did 5 years ago (pre-accident to boot)? Now if he salvages the odd race here and there you act like he's silenced the critics. Lol, get real. He has the longest streak EVER for a Ferrari driver without a win. If the old management structure was in place (AKA the won that actually won titles) there is no way he's still be around.

You're also wrong about me "hating" Massa. Just because I want him replaced doesn't mean that I dislike him. He seems like a great guy. He's had a fantastic career with Ferrari, more than 99.9999999% of professional drivers get to experience - but it's time for the team to move on. They managed to do it with Schumacher, it shouldn't be hard with Massa.

    I wanna play?

Last season I was also rooting for Sergio simply because of the speed and form he showed, I have no explanation for why he has been driving like a tool this season and it could be just his youthful exuberance but he definitely needs to be reigned in. I do not dislike Massa in any form or fashion I just think the team needs new blood and a change for Massa could also invigorate and revitalize his passion. I will not be totally disappointed if LdM retains him for one last season, it is what it is.

The announcement cannot get here fast enough for me.

Hopefully with Rory Byrne back working on the 2014 car, we'll AT LEAST, be equal to Red Bull. If Alonso has done what he's done with this car, I have confidence he'll beat Vettle if we can match them.

Who would have thought this when Raikkonen was forced to leave in 2009 because he couldn't cohesist Alonso? Talk about karma, seems like the script for a movie (are you listening Ron Howard?).
What if Ferrari nails it and they both get to the last race with the driver's championship within reach? For the first time I won't have a favourite driver in Ferrari, just hope they'll be free to race each other, although quite difficult as Kimi's money is Santander's.
Please, Allison, don't make a red turd!

Got to go with the future. A young driver is what's needed. Either Perez or Hulk would be an improvement.

Today's excitement all seems to be based on the one tweet by one chap who works for Sky & Autosport - at least til later this week !

It seems not impossible that it is a plant by Steve Robertson to effectively give Lotus one last chance for the check to clear or whatever the issue is
