Does Alonso run Ferrari and the team?

You best believe he is going to be scared and he should be. He has everything to lose and nothing to gain. If Kimi beats him (or wins another WDC for Ferrari before Alonso!) then what about the "hes the best driver" talk? If he beats Kimi then it was supposed to happen.

He needs to step up his game for early next year and needs to avoid anything costly or we shall see serious drama probably worse than 2007.

Bottom line... the most nervous man in Australia 2014 will be Alonso. Not to mention his teammate will be the regining WDC for Ferrari, something Alonso so desperately wants.

I dont think he is scared but name the 1 WDC winning team mate he ran from for some strange reason.

He may have matured but if history is any indication!

But his own engineer at Ferrari was Kimi's. He gives the nod to FA without question when asked if FA will beat Kimi.

I think the real pressure is on Kimi. He may have won a WDC but was later beaten soundly by Massa....thats the real story. Oh in a team FAR more demanding that his last playground at Lotus.

Nope, but the way people talked on here, he and Santander did! Post after post about how Ferrari was Scuderia Alonso and only an idiot would go there and that Santander dictated who would be in the second seat. It was accepted "fact" that Alonso had clauses in his contract where he could reject other drivers to ensure his unquestioned #1 status.

I disagreed with all of this and got blasted for it, and what do you know, it was all rubbish. Myth.

IMO, after the fallout with Dennis, Alonso couldn't stay at McLaren. He wasn't running - it was the logical choice to move. The bridge had been burned.

I don't know who will come out ahead but my money is on Alonso. Wouldn't be surprised if it was Kimi, but if Alonso beats him, Kimi's hard core fan base (that hate Alonso) will sink to new lows with the excuses (we've already seen it after Massa beat him). I am a big fan of both drivers and I just hope they can bring titles to Ferrari.

They both need to win. The Scuderia has put the two drivers in a position of need. Good to see.

How can he possibly step up his game?! He's punching well above his weight as it is. The team needs to up their game, plain and simple. Alonso will handle Kimi.

Historically, we all know Alonso has not been the type to play nice with competition within the team, however, I think with the passage of quite a number of years in the sport, Alonso has matured quite a great deal.

I think he will thoroughly enjoy the push by Raikkonen as he does now when he duels with Hamilton. The rivalry is still there between the two and both have called each other as their greatest rival.

Alo + Ham have both reached that maturity where they can handle things better and both will most likely thrive from the competition within their respective teams.

All things said and done, Raikkonen has got to be a much better benchmark for Alonso than Massa has been the last few seasons. At the very least, Raikkonen's consistency will rob valuable points from the other teams.

Fernando's relationship has taken a hit in recent months. First came his thing at Hungary, and after hearing they're looking at Raikkonen he publicly paid a visit to Red Bull to see if he can drive their cars. Calling the team a bunch of idiots in Italy certainly didn't help.

Reportedly, he's also not a happy bunny now that Raikkonen is there.

He's a whinging sleazeball but I do reckon he'll have the upperhand at Ferrari so what is he pissed about anyways?

I sincerely hope he gets beaten from day one there. And then he'll throw his toys out of the pram as per usual and I'll have a solid laugh.

You have always been one that's insisted he would never accept a fast teammate. Looks like he proved you wrong.

He's probably pissed because 2013 was another wasted year with a slow car.

What a bunch of crap. Alonso has delivered over the top in what is clearly the 2nd or 3rd best car on the track.

This is just you wanting to add silly soap opera type drama to a professional situation. Ferrari will have two top-notch drivers causing each to perform even higher.

Go back and read the tabloids to fill your day. What a drama queen you are....

Alonso could have left if he wanted to - Boullier said if Alonso came knocking he'd definitely answer. BUT he's still at Ferrari, says he's looking forward to working with Kimi. I know he can do no right in some people's eyes but those are the facts.

he would pay through the nose just to race for a worse team then. He still has a contract with Ferrari and voluntarily leaving will cost him plenty of $$. Well into the millions. Only a complete and utter nutcase would leave a competitive team because he's not happy with the 2nd driver choice, to then race for a team that has no money, and in turn pay his old team millions in return for that ''privilege''. Meanwhile, each and every person will call him a *****.

We all know Alonso wants a slave, because that's how he works best. I give full props to Kimi however stepping up to it and fully committing to be teammate to the fastest driver in F1 currently.

Alonso has grown a lot in the last five years or so, I think he will handle Kimi provided everything is done equally, the issues will come if one side of the garage gets more support. You must remember, Alonso is THE Ferrari top man right now, most won't forget his drive and talent just because an old face comes back.... Kimi is the one with his work cut out for him. He is joining the fastest most talented driver in f1, and his fastest days are arguably behind him, he has to rely upon guile from now on, and we all know Alonso has more of that than most drivers rolled together

What happens if both drivers end up with the same points, wins, seconds, thirds, etc ?

    Do they flip a coin ?? :D

Stranger things have happened in F1

As you can tell, I'm very optimistic that SF will rule the roost next year :)

....ohhh, this is going to be FUN...! Kimi will mess so badly with Alonso's head. After watching how he dealt with the Lewis issue, and his subsequent blackmail and extortion with McLaren, I can hardly wait to see him spin himself into an ever decreasing circle of mental anguish when Kimi starts to get under his skin. Australia 2014....let the fun begin!

I think Alonso is ok with having a fellow team mate who has balls and Kimi could give a rats arse about all the #1-#2 driver BS that is so prevalent in F1 today, especially amongst the 'arm chair team principles'. Kimi will push Alonso at any given chance and we all know Kimi does not BS, he just races.

The burden is on the team to supply equal cars to both drivers.

perhaps Luca picked Kimi as much for his driving skills as his experience dealing with prima donnas. the Ice Man is one of the best drivers in that regard. chances are it will be Fred who has his knickers in a wad, not the Ice Man.
