Not sure for this. Watch carefully the rear bootlid that is going a little bit ''up'', almost like a ''ducktail''...
Maybe the non sport seats will be a little more comfortable. I'm in! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk - now Free
Please share your knowledge of the optional sport seat option if you have any. You misunderstood me but then again maybe I misunderstood the optional seat thing. I don't think by optionals they mean true racing seats (as in racecars) but another level of a sporty street seat, which I would find annoying as I believe the sportier seats should come as standard in such a model. So if optionals are true racing seats, then that's fine for hardcore track users, but I highly doubt it! In similar fashion, there are certain components which in this model I think should come as standard, that is, the sportiest and lightest components (wheels, tires, mirrors...) except for those truly track-racing oriented (if any). So simply don't sell me the sportiest version available and then tell me that the sportiest equipment is an option - should be standard.
I agree the standard 458 "race seats" and things of that ilk should be standard on a car like the "Speciale" - it will leave a bad taste in the mouth's of potential buyers if most of the desirable stuff ends up as extra cost options. IMO Ferrari is getting greedy with this trend...
One question I have is whether the claimed weight reduction reflected in the dry weight figure applies to the zero-option car (it should, or else we are being played). If it is then any optional carbon would save additional weight.
In the FWIW catagory, this video blurb from the Wall Street Journal Video - Top Five Cars at the Frankfurt Motor Show - WSJ.com claims that "only a few hundred" 458 Speciale will be made. Seems hard to believe.
100% not Ferro and only close to Silverstone but it looks utterly amazing. Possibly a new colour but unlikely?
Well, don't feel like you're getting played because on paper, even w/o these optional carbon bits, the Specialé is 430lbs lighter than the base 458 (2,844lb vs 3,274lb). And compare that to the 430 Scuderia's weight of 2,975lb. It's light!
To answer your questions: - CF engine cover is listed separately 5.7k EUR. That's, together with the wheel hubs, the only CF on the options list, actually. - both the N.A.R.T. as well as the "Racing Stripe Grigio Corsa / Nero" stripe are listed and priced at 9k EUR - interior foot wells can be done in alcantara or leather, no mention (here) on CF Hope that helps... Tom.
Well one thing is for sure. The vast majority of the 458 Speciale owners in the U.S. will never get to experience the full potential of the aerodynamics of the car. In the meantime - Dear Ferrari, please add some options. They won't add any performance value to the car and do nothing but give me a bigger bill to pay. Here is my wish list. Is the dark colour on racing stripe is it not carbon fiber look or is it gray any other option colour combo available on the Speciale
From Ferrari's official specifications for U.S. version: Dry weight: Italia coupe: 1380 kg (3042 lbs) Speciale: 1290 kg (2844 lbs) The weight reduction is 198 lbs. The 3274 lbs you had for the base 458 is the curb weight, the fluids weigh 232 lbs.
doh...wait, the spider weighs 3,153 lbs with fluids then? I remember reading recently the curb weight for the spider is 3,400...that can't be right?
I just noticed the claimed dry weight of the Italia coupe listed on Ferrari.com is with forged wheels and racing seats. That means any weight Ferrari claim could very well be with options. But realistically, wheels and seats are the 2 only meaningful weight saver, all other CF options are all cosmetic trim pieces that really don't save any weight. Dry weight: 3042 lbs (1380 kg)* Note *With forged wheels and Racing seats
Try selling a 16M. Ferrari claimed 499 made more like 999. They are for sale everywhere. They aren't in high demand at all.
I think that next in line in weight reduction after seats and wheels are C/F air boxes. (But I love the red aluminum ones).
During the presentation, I saw a large under tray that covers a large portion of the surface area of the Speciale that is made in Carbon fibre. I think this together with the interior carbon doors accounts for a significant portion of the weight reduction as well.
I was hoping for brawny fenders from the GT3. Similar to the way they did the 288GTO - I LOVE THAT CAR!
