i reckon theres been a great number of cars that had the whale tail replaced with tea trays. im sure they are all scrambling now to find and retofit the original tails back on.

ive been thinking of running my 930 on the track but in stock form the suspension set up feels like a marshmellow compared to modern cars. they must have been a real handful with those old tires. Ive flogged around my buddies turbo lighten 400lbs with elephant racing suspension with steamroller modern sized rubber which gives the old girl a fighting chance on the track. i cant decide whethler to keep it as a nice plush gt or follow in his footsteps for a focused weekend track rat. there is really no inbetween.

Nice to know there is at least an turbo carrera registry. Yes that list needs to be worked on. Excited to see it grow. Funny living in San Diego I never thought La Mesa would have a premier dealership for Porsche/Ferrari. Mount Helix (was) and still is expensive but nothing comparatively to other areas.

I don't have the time to read 79 pages - I own a 1986 black over black 930 3.3. I bought it from its first owner (a collector) four years ago.

Prices for 930 are rising, for 3.3 cars and especially for the rare 3.0 ones.

I've been to a motorsport event last weekend and met one other 930 owner. Same year, same color scheme, that was funny. There was also an orange 930 3.0 running in excellent condition.

If you have a 930 - keep it! If you want to buy one - hurry up!

Btw, just my two cents - it's not hard to drive, it's smooth as a Golf if you keep the rpm needle below 3000. Above that, it's turning into a beast if you don't handle it properly.

    Cheers
    Bjoern

Yes, factory AC as it was on the COA and correct larger rear vent on the tail.

The same type interior AC controls are on this '75 930, RHD - 9305700080.

’76 Turbo Carrera, 9306800011 in the Oct ’75 Porsche + Audi Public Relations parade magazine. Green ’76 Turbo Carrera, 9306800012 made a brief cameo appearance in the December 1975 Road & Track but sadly it was stolen from Los Angeles R&T office. The September 2012 Excellence magazine article on the Earliest U.S. 930 mentions that it was eventually recovered minus the engine but I have not seen any other photos of 9306800012 (does anyone know the story?). It was one of two U.S. 930’s built in April/May '75 that were used for homologation purposes by Messrs Volkswagen of American.

U.S. ’76 & ’77 930’s had Turbo Carrera on the tail with a smaller turbo badge and different script. '75 to '77 Rest of World 930’s had only Turbo on the tail and this same design continuted for all 930's from '78 to ‘89).

"Rest of World" is actually an interesting term, for Porsche this meant all other than cars for the USA...

Or have Turbo Carreras been exported anywhere else but the US? E.g. Mexico?

Simon, Turbo Carrera was used in Canada as well. I don't know of any others.
