That thing didn't look like it got very wet to me. I have seen flood cars that only got about 5-6 inches and the carpet was wet. Not something I think qualifies needing to be salvaged. If The guy in Russia saved some money good for him that car didn't look bad at all, but I think for him it was well bought, for the other bidder in the states it's way to high.

The car was owned by a good friend of mine. It had water over the headlights, all the fuse boxes, wiring harnesses and engine ECU's were under salt water. The photos you see are from when the car first came in, it's been sitting out in the sun for nearly a year, the leather was shot, lots of corrosion throughout the car and the front bumper was wasted from being moved around with a forklift. I was on the car up to $65 for sentimental reasons as the previous owner was a friend and had passed away, beyond that the people that were bidding must have been smoking crack, almost like they completely forgot that the car had a Certificate of Destruction and is literally not able to get titled almost anywhere in the US.

So transaxle, differential and parts of engine have been submerged in salt water?
Any pictures to share, showing present condition?

The salt water was almost a blessing. Almost.

Yeah that makes it into an entirely different car, I love that they used the photos of when it first came in instead of the current state. Now being that deep it's no where near that value, I understand your motive but I think someone is going to be upset when they open the shipping container in Russia.

It's crazy they let these flood cars sit for so long, if they were rescued immediately they would have a chance depending how deep they were. Photos were very misleading but I went bidding on it either.

I've rebuilt hundreds of salvage car's in the last thirty years, that was until carfax/computer came along, that changed everything. That salvage title now haunt's these cars til death, the more expensive the car the worse it is, do yourself a favor, if your up for fixing salvage, repair 4-5 toyota's, sell them and go by yourself a clean title Lambo. And if you think you can wash the title think again, no one with a hundred thousand or more to spend on a car is going to buy it without looking at the history and even if he's fool enough to do that as soon as he try's to insure it the insurance company will clue him in.
