Yes, I'm in for the Speciale as soon as I can get a build slot. Love my 12 458 coupe but want a more raw, visceral feel and have been waiting for the scud 458 version. I'm going with a red metallic (Barcheta or Fiorano) or maybe a light blue metallic (azzuro) definitely with the scud style stripe.

Yes, you can pick the color of the Scud stripe. I was looking at making the inside of those stripes gold (like the alloys) on a black car. That's possible, yet not in their configurator at the moment. Price hence unknown...

I have a 5 point harness in my daily driver Exige. It takes 2 extra seconds to buckle in. No inconvenience really

For daily usage? Horrible! For every little matter you will loose the harness...

If racing belts then minimum a five point harness (best are the six point harnesses!). A four point harness do not offer a real benefit against a three point harness concerning safety. IMO you can very well do without the really uncomfortable four point harnesses.

llo;142575595]A question the atelier. I was there yesterday, but without any reps from my dealer. The guys guarding the door said you could come into the atelier after a while. I was under the impression you had to have a booking with your rep to arrange a configuration or did you just walk in and say you wanted to spec the car? I didn't really get any info from my dealer except the invitatiob.

    [/QUOTE]

Let me just say: very difficult to enter without an invitation.
Ps: in their configurator it appears the Pininfarina logo near the two lateral fins.
Just a note, since in the exposed car...there is not any logo.

I'm leaning towards Grigio Medio but having doubts. Azzuro is one of my favourites Here's some pic's of someone else's Scud

Thanks - I may have seen a Scud with a similar combination to yours

My dealer in the UK has said they aren't producing Speciale until next year? This however might be because we are right hand drive cars here in the UK and they are typically produced after left hand drive markets because they are larger markets collectively?

Also when I was at the Atelier in Frankfurt the software crashed twice half way through choosing my spec - very frustrating! I guess they are still ironing out the creases and getting feedback from customers to add more requests (carbon diffuser please)!!

The harnesses in the Speciale seem to have been made a little
more road friendly with the addition of a typical seatbelt type connector that releases everything in one go just like a full on harness but without the hassle of the central locker 'wheel'. I also found them quite easy to adjust. I am not using this car as a daily driver, so for me the addition of the harnesses adds to the occasion so much more for the extra couple of seconds it takes to put them on.

Also, all controls are on or very close to the steering wheel so accessing frequent functions is no problem compared with cars of the past.

Highly unlikely. That would be around $260k. In 2008 the 430 scud was higher than that...six years and much higher technology likely mean higher prices. I expect US base prices to be over $300. Perhaps a fair bit over depending upon what exterior and engine carbon is made standard here (tbd, they seem to be making more of it optional, like the diffuser and mirrors and likely the headlights and engine sidewall covers) But apples to apples in terms of carbon with a 2009 scud, I would guess $330 for a speciale (that would be up $40k or less than 15% on a scud after 5 years, not bad price inflation IMHO)

Here is the link. Ferrari does know how to shoot some vids that's for sure. Interesting engine sounds vs. the Italia...

Seriously...that engine sounds is way too subdued and doesn't have the high-pitched scream at high revs. It sounds fake, almost like a video game. I'm completely disappointed in the sound in that video (and they were clearly trying to showcase the sound in that video). Here's hoping the car sounds much better in person.

I agree, harnessing in your car is a special occasion in itself. Like you're strapping in for the ride of your life.

Sorry, but I don't like this computer-animated video, and I don't understand why Ferrari does it. I'm disappointed! :(

If anybody was wondering, here is the VIN of the 458S at Frankfurt. I took a picture of it when I was there this weekend, was indirectly given a little reprimand by the boss at the stand, who immediately came over to me and repeatedly asked why I needed it and what I was going to do with it, if the vin was special to me blablabla in which I replied "noting special, just curious." :)
