2003 360 modena. After I replaced the timing belts and their tensioners(hill engineering ones) about 500 miles ago, the car's developed a squeaky noise. Note that it only squeaks when the car is warm. Originally I thought it was the accessory belt, so I pull it off and start the car. Same noise. Opened the inspection panel and opened the timing belt protection case, the noise is there! I sprayed some water to the tensioner/belt contact area, the squeaking stopped! It would come back after a while. This happened to both sides of the timing belts. what would be the issue? does anyone have experience on this?
if you mean Clavis, yes, i did use it and set it to factory frequency are you saying I made it too tight?
If the tension of all belts was set right, you wouldn't be getting a squeek, unless you had a noisy bearing somewhere, which you surely would have found during fitment?
You did release the pins that prevent the tensioners (and I do mean the tensioners and not the pulleys) from pushing out while you changed the belts?
alright guys. update: i got the new "diapaz" to test my frequency again, result: 75 hz on the left and 100 hz on the right. phew..... I had a local non-ferrari mechanic told me it is the hydrolic tensioner went bad. What do you think? after changing timing belt , suddenly the tensioner went bad, both sides?
when I was replacing the timing belt, after the work was done, I put the pin into the hole, and it slided in and out freely (after waiting for the hydraulic tensioner to self adjust) after 1 month(now), when I was checking what's going on with the squeaking: on one side , the pin can still slide in, but with some friction , on the other side, i can't really insert the pin into it. any ideas? is it really the hydraulic tensioner?
