    A useful post.

I wonder if we will soon see a reaction against all of this technology. Granted that raw speed and track times, combined with government emissions pressure, have provided the impetus for it. And then there is the simple fact that it is achieveable.

I doubt if we will see the likes of the F40 again, but maybe some middle ground where weights drop below 3000 lb, engine responses all have the hair trigger Ferrari edge, no hybrids, and less numb steering.

Yet as long as people demand and buy these alien complexities, we will go along the way we have been going.

What was the news saying anyway? Did they get confused with the white LaF or the yellow one?

Such a creation would have no place in the upper echelon of the motor industry in a day and era that even F1 cars have power steering and paddles just because they are quicker and less tiring to drive that way. Alfa Romeo on the other hand might have something you may like; the 4C. It weighs 890 kg (dry) and has no power steering. It is turbocharged and has a double clutch tranny though. The first reports say that is old school (somewhat tiresome in the process) but the steering could be a bit quicker (the downside of not having a power rack) and the engine a bit more powerful and soulful.

Here is a nice report by the Dutch with English subtitles: Alfa Romeo 4C roadtest (English subtitled) - YouTube

We will definitely see cars closer to 2000LB than 3000LB with 600HP TTV6's that are much simpler, lighter and smaller.

They will also be faster than any of these three around the Ring and will be much less complex and need much less maintenance.

Interesting video. The car itself is a little too far in the opposite direction for my tastes and seems a mixed metaphor -- DCT with manual steering. A "6C" with 3 liter V6 engine and 320 hp at 8000 RPM and 2700 lb curb that outperforms the Cayman and base 911 would be interesting.

Hi guys just wondering if the 918 has been launched? From what I remember, it was supposed to be launched on the 18/9/13....correlating with 918 numbers.

I was working with Porsche until I left in May. Until then, there was 4 orders of the 918 here in Malaysia.

    Cheers!

Except for the bits where he was following traffic it looked like a more serious attempt than the previous videos posted here. It did look like he was being cautious about hitting the curbs. Still finding the edge of the road it seems. The pace looks quicker/more committed than last week though.

I'm sure vids of 918 and P1 going through those sections are out there. Someone with the requisite editing skills will no doubt be along to give us the side-by-side comparo.

Please don't insult Alfa Romeo buy referring to them as anything Ferrari ... Errrrrrr!

Why I hate the styling of this car, looks too much like a F430 ... shame on the *****head who styled it.

The speculation in this thread has reached a higher level with the analysis of the videos. We don´t know what they were testing, if it was the first lap or the tyres were already toasted, and a lot other of variables.
