I have a question about wheels. Campagnolo or Cromodora???????????? That is the question. I have a 1976 308 GTB (fibreglass), it has 16" wheels at the moment. I want to replace the wheels to what would have been fitted originally. Thanks to the Fchat community I have gathered that I am looking for a set of 7 1/2 x 14 wheels. My current research has show both manufacturers, Campagnolo and Cromodora were fitted in the 70's. Please advise what manufacturer would be correct for a 1976. Also, are there any different styles of 14 wheel, made by the same manufacturer? What style should I be looking for? I have attached a photo of one of MikeRSR Campagnolo's off of his 308 GTB fibreglass, to get the ball rolling. If anyone has any pictures of the Cromodora's please add them. Many thanks Image Unavailable, Please Login
I have a set of 14 cromodoras for sale with XWX tires, date code 4109, if you are interested in them. Couple of pictures attached. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Have you tried looking for previous threads ? For example this might help - it sounds like the sort of question often asked and answered http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/308-328/174534-campagnalo-7-5-width-14-308-wheels.html
Rick, the first thing is to contact Tony Willis from Maranello UK to secure the original invoice for your car. That will tell you where it came with the 6 1/2 or optional 7 1/2 wheels (Both 14"). At this time, you could also order a full size spare. I assume the space saver spare is original with your car, and most UK 308s were delivered with the 6 1/2 wheels (Unless noted on the invoice). They look like the top picture and made by Campagnolo. I call this the 'Hard edge lettering transfer" version. That's because sometime in 1977 the wheel was also available from Cromodora that had softer spokes (More rounded ridges and hub) and the letter was a casting, not a transfer. This applies only to the 6 1/2 wheels. Problems seriously arise with the 7 1/2 X 14" version. If you want to run this wheel, it's easier to buy them as a set rather than make them up individually, here's why. I have counted 8 different versions from 4 manufacturers. Campagnolo, Cromodora, Speedline and oddly, BBS. I have the following versions: Campagnolo: Hard edge Lettering transfers Soft edge Lettering castings Soft edge Lettering transfers Cromodora: Hard edge Lettering transfers Soft edge Lettering castings Soft edge Lettering transfers Speedline: Hard edge Lettering castings BBS: Soft edge Lettering transfers. There are probably more and I suspect these variants translate to the 61/2" version as well. The following pictures show the differences. A buy of individual wheels over the last 10 years of 25 wheels between myself and two friends only secured three full sets of wheels! Be warned! I have seen both Campagnolo and Cromodora 7 1/2 wheels fitted to 1976 cars (And the wheels dated 1976) both hard and soft edges however the earliest wheel I have with cast lettering is dated 1977. So you have 4 versions that should be correct for the 1976 model year, all with lettering transfers. Good luck. Thanks, I really enjoyed owning that 308. Someone kept telling me that I needed a Boxer, so I finally gave in.
Great wheel info there Carl and great photos. Is there any chance of pictures of the reverse side showing any markings that may be there? I understand the Campagnolos are marked as such and the Cromodora's aren't, is that correct, and any date stamps anywhere?
Of all the wheel combinations we've been talking about, has anyone ever seen a Cromodora wheel with the name, size and Ferrari words PAINTED in it?? thanks, Mike
Where can we get the transfers from please? Just had my 14' wheels refurbished and would like to add them. Thanks.

Thanks - it would be but they don't sell the 14' transfer neither the windscreen tyre pressure sticker for these wheels
I know someone posted a source for the decals a while back. I can't find it (yet) with search. I hate this site's search. Here's a post from 2010 Edit: found them on Superformance.UK
Sorry Mike no, but I'll get around to it one day and post them. All are date stamped (cast) on the reverse. All my Campagnolo wheels have no manufacturers name apart from the name appearing on the outer edge via transfers or castings. All wheels have a litany of numbers and letters that are meaningless to me cast into the rear of the spokes.
