I am thinking of picking up some tickets for my wife, son and I to fly down and watch the weekend race. I am at a loss as to what corner to book What to expect at the race (what should I bring inside)? What town should I stay in? rent a car or is there other ways to get around (I prefer having my own wheels)? Any suggestions or helpful tips appreciated. Thanks John Hunt '78 308GTS
Bring ear protection. I like the ear coverings you wear if you're going shooting. Easy to take on and off and protect the best. But listen to a few laps unmuffled to get a sense for the power
A little surprised the "search police" haven't jumped on you! Here's a couple of good ones to get you started; http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/f1/420324-cota-vs-montreal.html http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/f1/356016-best-place-sit-austin-gp.html http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/f1/399265-us-gp-austin-2013-advise.html Enjoy! Most "search police" only want to help someone make an informed decision . John, I want to suggest GA tickets but since you have a child I understand your concern is heavy yet there are tram's that will drop you off at any location. I would look into the area's between T14 and T1 as that is where all the food courts and restroom's are located so this could be a bonus for you and the family. Also you will have a lot of support from hospitality and the police who will want to make sure you and your family are taken care of while at the track. Lodging is also a huge concern for a family.
I probably should have mentioned the boy is 18. I was thinking of giving him a sleeping bag while my wife and I grabbed a local hotel room Is there a Ferrari fan grandstand? Thanks, John
There are porta-potties and food vendors scattered all around the track. I sat in T4 last year and didn't have to walk more than 100 feet from the bleachers to either food or facilities. There may be more food variety and permanent RR facilities between T14 and T1 but that area by no means has all of them.
in my opinion the best place to stay is downtown, nice hotels, the best restaurants, bars clubs, and parties, plus they got the fanfest going on the streets are all blocked off and everything is with in walking distance, and the shuttles go from downtown directly to the track. I didnt need a car the entire weekend, and it was great! I had turn 9 seats, but ended up watching from the GA section near the start. bring a good pair of walking shoes, lots of walking, and parts were very rugged last year.
