I don;t know how much Webber tip Alonzo for the ride but, I think it was pretty cool. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yep. I thought so too. Albeit a bit unneverving. I wonder how fast Alonso was going with Webber riding *****. But Webber gets a 10 spot grid penalty. Not sure what Alonso will get. Formula 1® - The Official F1® Website Hamilton was quoted as thinking it was very cool for the fans, but because Alonso stopped on track he could have collided with him.
Welcome to last sunday...Yes it was cool to see again! To Jason, Webber got a penalty because this is his 3rd reprimand (official warning), which he got for ignoring track marshalls. Alonso also got reprimanded for parking like an idiot. The FIA didn't have a real problem with the ride as such. If Alonso learned to park, Mark would've gotten access to the track and no issue would be here...
But the incident does make a good subject for models from Minichamps... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
There is one great post for some famous rides... The one in Mexico is superb: three rides for the price of one... LOL. No helmets, no nothing. Let's party! aiBOB: Rare Moment In F1 - Taxi Ride
The best way to take all the fun out of F-1 is to make an issue of this. It was a nice gesture, and penalizing either of them for it is just plain stupid. You don't think that F-1 drivers--the best in the world--can drive around a stopped car at 50 MPH? Geez, then how does any race ever get started.
The "This Is Too Much" thread started with a really good invoice from Ferrari to Red Bull for after hours taxi service, including tip, and quickly degenerated into a heated debate over tipping customs around the world.
If you look at the video in the other thread you can see that Alonso did park like an idiot, in a darkish spot round a blind corner. Drivers are waving at the crowd and not really looking at the track. In the same video Hamilton almost hits Alonso too (although he has a habit off hitting the back of other drivers at low speed...even in broad daylight! ). Webber said on his twitter that there was no interaction with the track marshals after the fire was put out. If that's the case IMO his reprimand should be revoked.
I enjoyed the ride. I don't think Vettel even grasped the camaraderie. Shows even Alonso matures. Will miss webber. F1 needs more of this.
I think this is missing the point. There is fantastic history on this that would be blind to overlook (see post #6). F1 is being around for some time.
