Has this question ever been posed? Both the 250 PF Coupe and the 250 GTE long have been donors for replicas. Now both cars are being recognized for how special they are and are being preserved. Thoughts on which car is more pleasing aesthetically? Please post pics to make your point.

Slightly biased as I own one but to me the GTE has more elegant lines. I think that colour is the most significant factor on either car.

I prefer the PF Coupe but I acknowledge there's a lot of personal preference at work in this choice, they are very different looking cars.

    Paul,
Would you say darker color on the GTE, non metallic?

They are equally as beautiful as they are both the first vintage Ferraris I had the pleasure to sit in and inspect closely, and are largely responsible for my love of the 250 series.

If I absolutely had to choose, the GTE would win, just because I like the fastback design a bit better.

Isn't the PF Coupe twice the price? Hexagon has one for sale at the moment at 340k GBP, but I don't know if this is a good price.

No, I actually think the metallic colours work best.....any of them as it then becomes a matter of personal taste. I think this applies to the PF also. Maybe its my eye but the non met colours lose the delicate lines of the GTE and make the PF look very slab sided......

Have to say that I am a sucker for the PF Coupe; partially because it lends itself so well to the two-tone paint scheme which I think is so elegant particularly on this car. 1577 and 1721 come to mind

PF Coupe by a wide margin in my eyes. I like how its lines are more closely linked with the other 250 two-seaters especially when viewed next to each other in a way the GTE does not match. GTE is beautiful in its own more purposeful way as well.

I do like the GTE and do bear in mind it is a more practical 2+2 but I vote PF Coupe which is a car that I have become increasingly fond of for its looks especially the wrap around rear window and small roof area.

I am partial to the GTE myself but the PF coupe is certainly a great car

Not sure who to credit with this picture but I've always liked it.

comparing one of ferraris most successful designs in a certain design parameter against one of its most unsuccessful designs in that particular design category.

Thank you all for your input. I personally like both cars, almost bought a GTE right before buying the PF. By no means do they look alike, but I see them grouped together often so it's a good comparison. I see the PF Coupe as a more elegant car. It has a very long bonnet, a shorter greenhouse (has no quarter glass) and shorter rear. It's body also sits lower. Could that yield to better handling? I hear that they are great for rallying. I am not sure on it's wheel base, but it looks longer than the GTE's. The PF's front end looks majestic with the GTE's less imposing. Basically the PF's dimensions and body characteristics are more interesting when you study them closely.

Both are equally beautiful in their own way.

It is sort of like the dome of the Sistene versus the Mona Lisa versus the statue of David.

But the most beautiful of these front-engine 250 Ferraris is of course - the Lusso.

Not counting the 250 GTO Series I, 250 GTO Series II, 250 SWB, 250 Cal Spyder SWB, 250 Cal Spyder LWB, 250 Carbiolet Series I, 250 Cabriolet Series II, 250 TR and the 250 LM you mean?

    Yes, I'd agree with that :) ;)
