Fatal accident in sepang yesterday. Rip track marshal. Was a very nice friendly person I met back a few months ago.
Well, there's some big bike event that's going on at Sepang this weekend. Then yesterday, during practice, this marshal, he was at the start finish line, and was waving the chequered flag to signal end of the session. No idea how a 250cc bike rammed into him and dragged him a few metres. Sad thing was, it was in full view of his 2 kids, whom he brought and were marshals too that day. I met him back in May. He's one of the most respected marshal in the paddock, and he was in charge of the Porsche Track day. He was a brilliant guy, chatted with me lots and gave me tips about track driving, etc. , and he knew tonnes about motorsports, and he was a marshal at the Malaysian GP F1 race for over ten years. They're not saying, but i think me probably passed on at the circuit itself. Very down to earth, and a true gentleman.
Thanks Remy for sharing. I have some friends there today morning for some track day. It's indeed very tragic and condolences to his family.
has anyone realised that the prices of older but "not that old" F-cars here in Malaysia has stopped going down in the last couple of months?!!! the more evident ones are the 348s,355s and even to a certain degree the 360......348s have slightly gone up (i could be biased of course / prob even blind but i'll take it ;-) the 355s are about the same.....what's funny is the 360s....sellers aren't asking less than what they used to be...some have even gone up and the gap between the 360s and 430s are so close..... well let's hope they stabilise....i think the reason being is that brand new F-cars are listed so much more than the outgoing models......imagine if Ferrari started doing what Honda does with it's newer cars ie the latest model is priced lower than the outgoing model.......good for new buyers....crazy for people already owning the outgoing or previous models!!!
Well. Really depends as these old sports cars usually bottom out @ about 200K+/- anything higher & it'll be tough to sell as people won't be able to get loans since banks don't support >10yrs old cars while the wealthier buyers will rather pay that cash for newer models. It's the same in most countries. Once they go past 30yrs & becomes a classic then it attains a different value. We went to see some cars yesterday & decent 430s but early 05/6 cars are asking mid Rm550K while 360s are I think Rm350K+. 355s have stabilised @ 250K but the dreaded engine out service puts me off & people take short-cuts in servicing here. The problem comes when you're really selling it. You get slaughtered so it's whether you want to hold it or not.
i agree, it truly depends on the holding power....if the seller is making a quick flip himself or not.....and also the condition of the car to those educated buyers (educated here meaning on 2nd hand purchase as opposed to how qualified one is!!! i have seen professionals not knowing jack about cars ending up buying lemons!).....
Well Pillai, the problem is I have a dozen too many & too little time so those cars can wait. If only Naza is bothered about selling then I could be tempted further but they seem to prefer dust gathering as they have been since early 2000 & for the Gallardo, they wouldn't move 50k so thank goodness or I'll be broke! Actually I'm so tired of driving these days that I prefer to take the bus or fly. In fact, I'm taking a train to Ipoh next couple of days & will be visiting Plan B among other local delights Are any of you visiting the carshow this weekend? The Johor Sultan will be there to grace the event & showing some of his classic Lamborghinis then give out a concours trophy to a choice of his car. It's at the Matrade convention centre in Mont Kiara area.
To the car dealers, our beloved toys are just their products of trade. Can't blame them as it's all business. Some of them know but they wouldn't spend a dime to upkeep on used cars so we're always passed with a heavy bill. I'm sure we all had our fair share of stories. I had a painful lesson last year for trusting a dealer too much while I even gave a S$5K angbao to a salesman for securing the car that I wanted. So, it goes to show that when buying these things, sometimes we're buying the seller too. Which reminds me about the Singapore Lambo dealer, he sends us all the festive gifts without fail & even birthday cakes every year from the best bakery so it makes us kind of guilty & goes back for another car (very sly trick ). Some years ago my wife was giving birth & the next thing we knew, there was a hamper in our hospital room from them!
true, the "kautauing" phenomenon is a great play of minds!!! the nicer ones always find it difficult to fight the current!!! why was it a painful experience? was the car not what you had wanted? a lemon? and that's a lot for an angpau!!! i would love to be your seller.....just name me what you would like!!!anything- i promise!!! lol!!! bk
