I was thinking of getting GA, and flying in and out just for the race. Are there shuttles from the airport to the track? I'm thinking of flying in Sat night, or if possible, EARLY Sunday morning, go to the race, and fly back out Sunday night. Thoughts, ideas, advice, suggestions, etc...???

Plus Turn 11 is good for GA, too.

Can't find anything from the airport to the racetrack so far. The Metro goes from the airport to the shuttle pick up spot in downtown Austin, but that seems kinda silly to head the opposite way to downtown, then back to the racetrack, especially when it's only 9 miles away from the airport.

I wonder how much a cab ride would be from the airport to the track, and if there would be any cabs at the track??

I doubt there will be cabs at the track, but you never know. Getting a cab from the airport to the track shouldn't be a problem. Traffic shouldn't be too terrible if you head out early.

I picked my Information Package on Wednesday night, tons of info and charts, I have not absorbed it all yet, but any specific questions i'll look to amswer.

They did move the downtown shuttle location, its at the Convention Center.

They will run shuttles from four Paid Parking lots close but not on premise.
The $200 Parking Pass is probably the way to go, if all three days attending.

They are selling One day tickets too, but they are only in some select bleacher areas.

Lots of changes to Track Acess and mobility, (no shuttles at all down North side) but go with what your ticket says..

They were unloading Ferrari Challenge cars from some reason, I saw Mark's 430, Franco's old car, and Bennie's son's 458 Italia.

Will post some pics when I fond my phone cord...

Oh wow. The convention center has only street parking around it. That's not good. But it's nearer the rail stop, so there's that I guess.

They're selling one-day tickets to the GSs on the east side along the esses where they're selling slowly.

No shuttles on the north side? Did you mean east side (where the esses are)?

I'll take you up on the offer! I just bought General Admission, now looking to book a flight. Since I'm only attending the race, I'm flying in Saturday, should be in early in the afternoon. Most hotels in the area are booked or pricey. I'm just gonna rough it out for the night at the airport. If Austin Bergstrom had a USO, that would have been perfect for me, but I don't mind finding a corner in the airport for the night. I was a Marine for 8 years after all!

If you can pick me up at the airport Sunday morning and maybe drop me off after the race, that would be perfect. Of course I'll pitch in some gas money and have a few beverages with you for your time and trouble. :)

    Yes...LOL!

The Turns 3, 4 5 and then on up the hill.....they are closing gate 6, and deleting Turn 6 bleacher.

So no shuttles at all? They used to run around the whole perimeter. Wow.

    Hello All,

I will be driving along with a friend in the 512TR from Columbus OH to the Grand Prix and back. We will be staying South of the track off SR 183 which runs South of the track to the outskirts of San Antonio. The speed limit on SR 183 is 80mph. I will be enjoying that! So eventhough the hotel is 25 miles South, we will be just 15 minutes away!

Lockhart Inn 1207 South Colorado Street, (SR183) Lockhart, TX 512-398-5201 $340.00 for 2 nights.

I bought tickets and parking through the FCA links. I am arranged to attend the FCA Bar-B-Que and the dinner the next night at Trento Italian Restaurant.

I hope to meet some F-Chatter's there!

I think you mean SH 130, not US 183, but yeah, it's a fast and fairly empty freeway though the middle of nowhere basically. You're gonna have fun no matter what though in that gorgeous ride!

Is there a substitute viewer available since Fanvision appears to have been booted by Bernie? I recall that cell coverage is pretty weak at the track so I don't think streaming will be successful. Any tips?

Yes, and south of Austin between San Antonio, the speed limit is actually 85 for a 41 mile stretch. Which basically means a cop won't even bat an eye if you are going 90. Fun stuff.

I had heard the track was trying to make an app to replace the FanVision experience, but I haven't heard any follow-up on that in a long time. Like you say the phone signals out there tend to be weak to useless, so that may not have been viable anyway.
