I've been searching for an experienced, old-school mechanic, to come and work for my new company in Hong Kong. If there are any qualified, experienced, interested folks on this forum, please send me a PM. We will be concentrating on the repair and restoration of vintage European sports cars.
I've been here 20+ years, raised two children, and haven't yet been frightened off by either rent or school fees. On the other hand, I've been privileged to have worked on some of the finest exotics in the world, owned by some of HK's most enthusiastic collectors. I've often compared it to being the Beverley Hills gynocologist. First time Cameron Diaz comes in for a pelvic exam, it's near impossible to concentrate on the job at hand ;-) After her 100th appointment, you're telling her to hurry up so you can make your 3:00 tee time! Seriously (as serious as I can be) my experience here has been nothing short of remarkable. There's such a fascinating concentration of automotive excellence here, that anyone working with fine cars will be spoiled for working anywhere else.
Did I mention the food? The easy access to other parts of Asia? General lack of violence? Food? Beautiful scenery? Beautiful women? Food? And yes, CARS CARS CARS!
say 2 visits a year that makes 50, started at say 18yo = 68 Yeah I can understand why u would be in a hurry
OLIO! The pair of you - you're both deluded in a kinda same but non -identical way... Blackbird, unfortunately I think the type of person you're looking for is pretty rare in Australia these days as well.
Kerrari, I'll admit to being delusional, but wouldn't that indicate that I'm lucid? One of those logic loops that doesn't resolve. Sadly, it seems that the type of Mechanic (with a capital "M") I seek is vanishingly rare everywhere.
Is your prospective employee for commission of major works & restoration ? Or just patching the occasional oil leak & test drives ? Any experience in sales required ?
Il Duce, the position is for major works & restoration. Test drives in Hong Kong are not much fun. And no, not looking for anyone with a sales background.
Sorry Blackbird - was referring to PP and Simon - not your good self! BTW what district is your workshop?
We're in Chai Wan, near all the other large service centers. It's a shiny new shop, still under renovation. In-house machine shop (with a HIGHLY skilled fellow handling machinist and engine assembly duties) and a vibe that takes the best of old-school and mixes it with a taste of Woking. I'd be delighted to give you a tour once we're open for business.
Greetings Kevin Are you the Kevin I owe thanks to for help on the history of my HK delivered, now in Aus, 575 recently?? Philip C
