Hi Guys Some of you may have seen some pictures of mine taken at a training center for young boys & girls 14-19 years of age. We train them to be motor technicians - however we do a lot more than that we try to inspire and motivate them for the challenges of the real world. Our new premises has a showroom!! It is set out like a dealership. And the restored 400i has pride of place. We have only been in a few weeks so this is how it looks now. I hope you enjoy the pictures. Back story: I lost my old business, & wife(left). had to sell most of my car collection, lived off porridge for 2 years,. Decided with a business partner to do something worthwhile with the added advantage of doing something I love. Everything we have done over the last 2 years has been without capital or loans - just hard work and donations, Working 24/7 and get paid occasionally! Life is good now. Hi fez1238. This is the best feel-good story on FChat since "http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/vintage-thru-365-gtc4-sponsored-redline-restorations/369902-barn-find-today.html" in the Vintage forum. Strangely, out of the blue this week my wife started talking about chucking it all in and doing something because we like doing it, instead of something we gotta do to pay bills. (She didn't mention the part about leaving. One can only hope.) Your story is truly an inspiration. By the way I recommend oat bran over porridge. But that's me, 180 Out.
As so often happens, good comes out of bad and it's great to hear you've bounced back, are doing something so worthwhile and are happy now. Two questions:- a) Where are you in the country ? b) Is your first name really "Fez" and surname "1238" or do you have other less conventional names like "Colin" and "Johnson" ? We're all friends here so no need to be so coy !!
Hi all Yes we are based just outside of Liverpool city center. I was once going to start a thread about this Ferrari because I bought it as a parts car - just for the stainless steel exhaust - for my silver Ferrari 400 (The Bill Wyman/Rolling Stones car). It had been stood in a field for 5 years, had mold inside and out and rats nests in the engine bay - it was a special order for an Arab sheik and has sunroof and lovely pewter CUP HOLDERS!. Believe it or not it was bought for £1000 !!!!(yes, one thousand). THe most expensive thing for the restoration was the respray. Its been a labour of love and its not for sale!
Great collection of vehicles. Are they all finished or still projects? After fully restoring a couple of 400 you will probably be the leading specialist on the subject! I may lend you mine!
It seems that you and the 400 have undergone a restoration. Congratulations to you both, life IS good.
