My 1980 208 GTB works perfectly with a warm engine, however for the first 10 minutes or so it runs horribly. It seems that when the engine is cold it struggles to get fuel into the system resulting in a rough ride until the engine warms up.
Can anyone offer suggestions where the problem might lie?

Warm up regulator? possibly stuck and not changing differential pressure. You must hook up a fuel pressure gauge and monitor pressure.

Is it a carbed 208? If so, the extra air cam has probably been disabled (or is misadjusted), and unless you use the choke (and you shouldn't), sort of quasi-normal behavior (i.e., you need to use the acc. pedal a bit during slow cold-running).

Thanks for the tip Tepps. I'm sure that it is fuel related so I will check it out.

Please elaborate -- did you check the regulated supply pressure, the cold control pressure, and the warm control pressure?

Spoke to my mechanic who told me that he checked the fuel pressure. Cannot elaborate on what he tested

the fuel pressure is not static. It should change from about 30 psi to around 50. Don't quote me on that as I don't have a spec book in front of me.Sometimes people will adjust the CO to overcompensate for vacuum leaks , lean mixture , richness etc, etc,Then everything gets out of whack. If your mechanic does not know what is wrong, try and get someone else who is more familiar with the operating systems.
