Couldn't agree more on the second part. However, even if they do give us Clifford-2 it should *still* be good to watch!.... Who's quicker?.... Sure, I'd like 'em to be battling for poles, but even if they're "doing a Mclaren", and fighting over 8-10th, it'll still be great to watch! [Again, not what I want.] Cheers, Ian
I agree with the poster about Brazil Mass won that WC even though it was given to Hamilton, he was never the same after the crash and neither would any of you be..... That said I love Kimi I still have pics of him hugging a plastic dolphin in the gutter somewhere. I also agree that if Ferrari can't hire newey they have to find a better guy as that is what is winning the races the body not the engine unfortunately we will be back to the 80s next year not looking forward to that wish they would put gear levers back maybe see who has the right stuff .
Totally. I'm not sure this is going to work, the words "train wreck" come to mind. But I'll be watching. I bet a lot of people will be watching. Bernie should be thanking Ferrari management for the coming ratings bump in 2014. -F
Massa unleashed. This is massa when he feels he is driving for himself. He tried to channel alonzo but got grosjean instead.
This is the thread that certainly needs a bump after Massa's performance today at the US GP qualifying, not the "Massa doesn't suck" thread. He sure sucked today, barely made it out of Q3, 1.2 seconds behind Alonso in Q2. Final result in US GP qualifying Massa 15th, Alonso 6th. 6th is bad enough for Ferrari, behind a customer Sauber, but 15th? What an embarrassment. In post-qualifying comments, Massa said "I don't know what's happened, I'm very surprised. I'm struggling to get grip from the car everywhere and it's difficult to explain why. I've no idea what's going on." I'm sure Williams is looking forward to such incisive technical analysis next year as they try to develop their 2014 car under the new regulations. It will be entertaining to see Bottas thoroughly out-perform Massa at Williams next year, at least.
Wow, this thread dropped way back in the F1 section, but it's about time to bring it back. Or maybe since it's a new season, new team, we should start a new thread titles "The Massa still sucks thread!" So in the first race where both Williams run to the end, Massa was a roadblock holding up his faster teammate, was ordered to let his faster teammate past, and ignored team orders. Early in the race, Bottas radioed that he was quicker and asked to be let by, and the team suggested that Massa was trying to pass the car ahead and Bottas could follow him through. Bottas told them to tell Massa to get on with it then... Through the entire race, Bottas had better pace than Massa. It will be interesting to see how Williams handles Massa disobeying orders to let his faster teammate pass him, and to see how Massa responds to realizing that once again he is slower than his teammate.
Bottas never made an honest attempt to pass. So you made a nice non point here as I predicted to myself the useless commentary here would continue. Bottas finished behind Massa. He needs to look in the mirror and ask why. Answer - I didnt pass him. When Bottas passes Massa he will be faster. SO far Massa is beating his team mate and now his team mate is complaining LOL. Hey Bottas - Make a pass get more points. The calculus is quite simple.
Massa was the first to complain that Bottas was crashing into him and they told him not to pass Felipe. Bottas obeyed. Second time over they tried the opposite and Massa disobeyed. And Bottas caught him up after the grid penalty, so not slower at all. Just because he brings sponsors he thinks he can do whatever he wants.
No its called racing. Bottas never passed Massa and would be better off doing just that - PASSING MASSA and showing he is no longer a rookie. Its just that simple.
Massa needs to obey team orders. He likely cost the team some points as Bottas had a shot at passing Button. Massa is ignorant if he doesn't think sparks will not fly. Bottas may put him in the gravel next time. Drivers are paid to obey orders. Period. Williams should dock his pay severely and tell him next time, we'll double that penalty, and so on and so forth.
LOL really-- so Val cant pass Massa and had 56 laps to do so and thats your case? Bottas needs to be big boy and drive and pass Massa, not have the team do it for him. Period. He has also been out-qualed by Massa as well. I guess the team should help him there too LOL! Williams got exactly the points they earned and neither car was going to pass Button. Even the guys on SKY admitted that. Also Damon Hill said Massa had NO reason to let Bottas through. None. He said if Bottas wanted the position he could have done the work and passed Massa. Very very simple. He didnt so the real whiner today is actually Bottas. We also dont know what arrangement was made between the 2 before the race. Bottas attacked Massa and may have violated something in place as well. We will not know.
Gotta be the smartest thing i read all week. Drivers are paid to race my friend, not obey team orders.
Botox arring with half a second behind Massa tells the whole story: He could have passed if it wasn't for team orders. The Massa fans were all "he is going to take the fight to Ferrari, beat them and show them what he is capable of as a real #1". BS. He is nothing more than a glorified midfielder who is now only keeping in front thanks to team orders. Hopefully Williams won't make the Ferrari mistake and keep this paperweight in their car forever. Go Botox!
Early in the race when Bottas' much greater pace first caught him up to Massa, it was Massa on the radio whining to the team telling them to get Bottas to back off. Bottas was asked to hold position, as he did when instructed by his employer. Wrong answer, the correct answer for Bottas would be "The team ordered me not to pass him and I followed orders; then later the team ordered Massa to let me by and he disobeyed orders". If you think Frank Williams is going to let employees away with disobeying team orders, then you don't know Frank Williams. A Williams driver is never more than an employee. You better look at that Championship standing table again. Massa is the #2 Williams driver.
