UB, Great Pano article about your car. They took some great pictures. Your 930 looks stunning! The Carrera Turbo script made me chuckle as it brought back memories of a black/black '76 930 Sloan had in 2011 when I was 930 shopping. The US 3.0L Turbos must have holes in the rear deck such that you can reverse the words. Best of luck with your 930!
Porsche factory press photo featuring a 1976 RoW 930 Turbo. From the ride height, it appears this 76 930 was equipped with optional Pirelli P7 tires. Image Unavailable, Please Login
930, IIRC, I believe that the turbo carrera script are adhesive backed, not pinned with speed nuts like the hood emblem. At least I know for sure that was the case with the Turbo script on my 951. BTW, love my copy of Porsche Turbo Carrera Tribute Book by Karl Ludvigsen, not sure if it has been mentioned on this website or not. It was first published in 1976 and has details and plenty of factory photos. Not an extensive book, but a nice addition to a Turbo Carrera collection. Speaking of which, I realize now that I bought a model of my car 10 or so years ago. Black with red interior 1:43 Minichamps model. Talk about foreshadowing. No they're not adhesive backed. They have speed nuts just like the hood. Two per script. Yes "the tribute to the Turbo Carrera" book is probably my favorite. Great photos of the 3.0 litre during its production process. Ironically a lot of the photos are of US spec cars... A must for any 3.0 litre owner..
Thanks for the kind words guys. I took that photo on the way south to the Going to the Sun Road in Glacier Park, MT. The photo was taken in Alberta about 10 miles north of the border. I think the mountain in the background is Big Chief. I love this car - I like all of my cars but this early 930 is pretty special.
With respect to Panorama, the new editor is Pete Stout who came over from Excellence. Dan Proudfoot who wrote the article on my car is a long time auto journalist who used to cover F1 back in te day. I think he still does the wheels section for the Globe and Mail. Nick Busato who took the photos in the article is a race photographer in the ALMS series - check out his flickr page or his website - absolutely jaw dropping work. This is the caliber of people that Pete has brought to the table to make Panorama what it is now. These guys were an absolute pleasure to work with, both professionals in their own right.
The 1st U.S. delivered 1976 930, 9306800011 featured in the September 2012 Excellence Magazine. Both 76 Turbo and 75 Turbo license plates are registered in Colorado.  Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Photo of my 1975 Porsche 930 in the September, 1976 issue of Panorama. It is the left Turbo in the photo, still on track RSR wheels but now equipped with rear fender gravel guards. The ’76 930 on the right may also be on RSR wheels. Photo caption: “The Turbos of Fred Veitch and E. B. Liddle rest in the barren pits of Aspen, waiting for the timed laps to begin.” Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Blaupunkt Köln radio re-installed. This radio was standard for 1975 Porsche 930s and did not have a cassette player. The August 1975 issue of Motor Magazine has an interior photo where you can see the Köln radio installed. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yes I recently re-installed my Bamberg Unit. Interesting unit, I think it was little ahead of it's time. Studying the brochures I noticed the 76-77 cars had the microphone fitted in the the center console as pictured in my car. I think the later cars had it attached to the Bamberg preset box. BTW I have this extra mic if anyone is interested in putting there car back to stock. Just let me know. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
What is the mic for. I have a 76 silver 930. 50k miles. I had a mic but may have misplaced it, i thought it was not part of the car
The mic is for the original head unit that allowed the driver or passenger to record notes on a cassette tape.
The February 1975 issue of Sports Car World featured an article on the new 911 Turbo with press photos of S - CD 1337. The article included and nice photo of S - CD 1337's engine and I’ve also posted an image of the engine fan housing decal on my 1975 930. Are there any differences between the 1975 and 1976/1977 911 Turbo engine fan decals? An interesting mix of 930s for sale in the August 2000 Porsche Panorama. At that time, the 1985 is commanding the highest price and there was also a 1975 930, 9305700098 for sale in the classified ads. Image Unavailable, Please Login
How is the 930 Turbo experience different from other older non-turbo 911's? I have driven the '66 2.0, '72 S 2.4 and '85 3.2 liter non-turbos.
the guy i bought my 79 from a couple years go also owned this one. it wan't for sale back then. the font seats are not to my taste and should be put back to stock. i'm planning to go to the auction.
