An admirator and strong collector. I like the famous story about 250 MM who never used A track in fis life but only the best Avenues in Paris. If you have pictures, or stories you have my all Attention.
Beautiful! A 250 S1 Cab- one the most elegant Ferraris ever made. Is that his wife? I too would be interested in more pictures and reports. Marcel I am sure has the info- if has time - perhaps he can share!
Indeed there was the 250MM berlinetta whose chassis 0338M entered the Pinin Farina workshop on June 24 1953 for « MM Dyer » under job nr. (Scocca) 12239 with no specification. 0338MM was obviously a gift from Price Saddrudin Aga Khan to his wife Nina Dyer, a famous model who died in 1965. The funny story is that, once visiting the Le Mans ACO museum I noticed the Ferrari berlinetta crudely repainted red ( ) and wrongly indicated as a « cabriolet 250GT ». The reason was that when the Prince gave the car to the ACO, he had it delivered with the paper work for 0709GT, a Pinin Farina 250 GT cabriolet, another Ferrari of his - and the very car seen in post #1 with Nina Dyer at the wheel.
Somebody correct me if I'm wrong. For the 1223X series of PF job numbers, I have: 12230 = 0312 MM 12231 = 0316 MM 12232 = 0340 MM 12233 = 0338 MM 12234 = 0344 MM 12235 = 0318 AM 12236 = 0320 AM 12237 = 0322 AM 12238 = 0352 MM 12239 = 0346 M
Sorry, the xerox of the hand written listing I have since many years, lists 0338/MM as 12339, but that "scocca" ref. also appears for 0346/M... Only the numbers stamped on 0338/MM and 0346/M would tell for sure what happened.
Wonderful story with 0338 Gt and Mrs Nina Dyer. Someone said: the perfum of Mrs Dyer still perceptible Inside the car. I never find a picture of this woman, but it seems that she was a top model, origined from Ingland and India. Best
12232 dated 19/6 and 12234 dated 26/6 with "12239" dated 24/6 in between makes it quite clear that 12239 is a clerical error and 12233 would be the correct number.
Nina Dyer was born in 1930 to wealthy British parents, who owned extensive property in Sri Lanka, then Ceylon. She was raised in the exotic country but moved to Paris as a teenager to become a high fashion model. In 1954 she married Baron von Thyssen. In 1957 she married Prince Sadruddin Aga Khan in Switzerland, divorce in 1962. Over-dosed on sleeping pills in 1965. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Alors la, je dis BRAVO! Exellent !! where did you find it??? Many thanks for post it, i can t believe it! Von Thyssen bought the 0338 and Aga Khan put his color on the car when is integrated in his garage. Thank you Boudewijn, Do you know if the car still in France?
I hope to see it one day, Europe needs to do a event with the same level of Palm Beach or Pebble Beach. Those people want to show their car! Merci Marcel
I never been there, i imagine a plateau as breakers hotel, with a classic, contemporaine, and modern Ferraris meeting Anyway, since many years Finaly mundiali are the finest for me. Have a nice day, Christian
today I just read the article about 0338 MM in the Ferrari club France magazine in the article is written that Nina Dyer was gifted two sports cars with gold-plated ignition keys one should be 0338 MM what was the other one ?
250 MM 0338 MM was given to Nina by her first husband Baron Hans Heinrich von Thyssen-Bornemisza. She is said to have later received 250 GT PF Cabriolet S1 0709GT (see post 2 in link here) from second husband Prince Sadruddin Aga Khan and later to have bought 250 GT SWB California Spyder 4095GT herself.
