Lately when I lock my FF with the key it beeps and the lights flash once like normal, but after about 5 seconds it beeps a long beep and the turn signals flash twice. The doors and the hatch are locked. No warnings come on, just I get an extra beep with two light flashes. If a door is not closed it should beep and flash nine times but this is totally different. The alarm lignt on the dash then blinks as normal

    Any ideas?

Question: does it also happen when you lock with the remote button on the key fob, or just when you engage the key itself?

I never have used the key itself. It only locks the car and sets the alarm, no light flashes at all nor beeps. I just tried my second key with the same response, around three seconds later I get two flashes along with a long beep.

I sent an email to my dealer and should get a response from them Monday.

OK. So then the question is does it happen if you physically lock with the key itself. If it doesn't, that would suggest that the problem is with the remote signal code from the keys (unlikely I think) or the receiver in the car. If it does, the issue is in your alarm/lock circuit in the car.

I believe the security system senses an error and won't complete the lockdown sequence. Could be a door, trunk or ??

I take it you've tried lock, unlock and lock again to see if it takes. I've seen this sequence work before.

Might also try leaving each door or trunk open and try locking to see if the behavior changes. Could provide a clue.

Else a system scanner will be needed to see what component is objecting...

I thought about resetting the car with a battery disconnect but will wait for dealer input. Everything actually works, it just does the additional beep and two flashes so it must be trying to tell me something that is not documented in the user manual. That's why I tried my second key that I never use thinking maybe it was telling me the key battery was weak, no such luck.

Yeah.. I would hold off on the battery disconnect. Not a bad idea to try rapid lock-unlock per SVCalifornia suggestion.

You say that the lights flash twice as if it were unlocking but it does not unlock? And everything is buttoned up?

Yes, two flashes but I think they are faster than the unlock pair. I will have to measure that I guess. In fact the beep seems to have a slight interruption as if it were two quick beeps connected.

We will see if MAG knows. If not hopefully the Italians are not on another long vacation :D or it can take months to get an answer :)

Nope, no word yet. I also have a problem with the leather on the top of the driver's door that I have not received an answer for yet. I have three spots where the leather wraps around the top of the door (where you put your arm out the window during a relaxing drive) where it was trimmed way too close to the edge, and that edge is now sliding up showing as a hole in the leather. I sent photos to them last week.

From previous Ferraris I have learned that their leather is especially sensitive. It is certainly not German leather which is tough and resilient. Oddly our little Abarth's leather seems tougher than Ferrari leather so it is not just an Italian thing.

However your issue sounds like a warranty covered problem.

On the leather, the factory says to stretch it locally, the dealer is fighting for a new part. Hopefully they win.

On the lock, they are picking the car up next week to work the issue. :)

FWIW I had a warranty issue on the seat bolster leather of my 458. It was addressed by doing a partial rewrap of the seat. An excellent local vendor did the work, which required taking the seat physically out of the car. The vendor did the wrap including the sewing of the stitching. The leather is black so that matching color was not an issue, though the the texture of the leather was slightly different (being a different animal). Something to keep in mind.

Are you Columbus or Chicago dealer?

The computers were telling me that the siren was faulty. They are going to replace that (whenever they get one).

Interesting. So we should be alert to oddball behavior in the lock sequence.
