my wife tells me it doesn't rain in England. Every time she has been there it has been sunny. I am thinking: lucky the person who has a monoply on umbrellas (bumbershoots) there I reckon. crikey, they have more rain in a day than we have in the Colorado mountains in a month. Not too condusive to convertible sales I imagine! the P1 sounds great. the taillights intriguing. for a $1.15 million hybrid I will pass. Clarkson is a twit* regardless. guess he thinks socialized medicine will save him from lung cancer and heart disease. LOL *silly and annoying person.
Yeah, on the streets of Bruges*. Look at the Jeremy's face. This is ridiculous. *facepalm Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
These mules have been beaten hard. Cables and connectors were coming out from behind the panels. I imagine the panels have been removed and replaced many times, which can cause misalignment. No, in production form this car doesn't look like a kit car. It looks like a real deal race car for the road. And as we've seen from the Nurburgring time, it's not just looks. -F
Nonsense to call 918 a kit car , its jewel like in its detail and build quality . Over a million development miles too . Interesting quote from Clarkson on the P1: "The P1. Complete game changer. The next chapter in motoring. Speed like you simply would not believe"
How would he know ! Its been raining today at Spa & yesterday in Bruges "I didn't use full throttle much"
It still amazes me that people quote Clarkson in serious arguments. That is akin to still believing the US government regarding Saddam's chemical weapons...
Well, considering the lap times are set by the Stig, not Clarkson, I think they can be taken a little more seriously than the averag TG review. Top Gear's on-camera "reviews" by the talent are about spectacle and beautiful visuals more than accurate portrayals of the car. But the lap times are one of the few places where you can reasonably compare cars from all across the performance spectrumthey're all being tested on the same track, and usually by the same driver (or at least, drivers of equivalent skill).
You guys are right- its so hard to compare even the times because of different conditions but you can enjoy the discussion anyway. In terms of the whole package, I think the LaFerrari is tops, but I think McLaren is really doing an excellent job with the P1. The look as really grown on me. Especially in black.
i think the silver-grey production car shown at Pebble (Weissach Package) looks incredible. Sounds fantastic too. And yes, it goes like stink! If Porsche develops and supports the product as planned..it should only get faster and more efficient, and lighter. at $900k a bargain compared to the other 2 hypercars. I wish they'd bring these proto's to boulder..i'd be all over it P1...still same issues for me...windshield way too big...rear deck way too low and the bubble canopy too high...appears as is if the butt is drooping really low. sound is too non-descript muscle car. in another thread a would be owner took back his deposit citing lack of overall quality...and that it really is a 'supped up' 12C. a $500K car, yes, 1+ Mil? No.
This is how you have to run to do an under 6:30 Bridge to Gantry Ring Time... BMW Z4 GT3 Feeling lucky? [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4JyFJ11_zMc]Alzen Automotive Qualifying-Runde 4. VLN-Lauf - YouTube[/ame]
Absolutely amazing that a GT3 car can run those sorts of times. Mind blowing, considering Group C weren't running much below in the 80's. Sure, after a point every second means lots of $$$ and speed and all the other complicated things. But this really shows how far we've come...
Damn the car was just eating the corners like nothing. Hardly lifted at Schwedenkreuz. That's the key at the 'ring I guess - cornering speed?
Some moments in that video seemed to defy the laws of physics. Just goes to show what downforce and great race rubber can get you, along with an extremely capable and committed driver behind the wheel of course. >8^) ER
