Some knucklehead backed into me yesterday morn over by the zoo. We're both looking for parking, he stops, I stop. He then puts it in reverse. I honk, you all know that it takes a good second for the air horn to sound. He keeps coming...no time to do anything.

He has the nerve to come out and say that I hit him. Luckily I found a witness who saw it all...made sure to get this guys name and number.

Don't worry, the car should be washed and detailed after the repairs.

Very sorry to hear that. I know Greg (M5guy) and Bob (rcallahan) both had their cars touched up for stone chips, etc. but no body work. Both cars look unbelievable so I know the paint quality is top notch. Try shooting them a PM to see who they used.

Sorry to see your car damaged. Harder to believe the guy tried to blame you no less! Just too many careless hurried drivers out there.

Just saw this on thee other thread - sorry to hear about and can't believe the guy tried to blame you.

Don't have any advice on a bodyshop to offer, fortunately, I suppose.

I am sorry Henry, I share you pain brother. It was on April 1st 2013 when and 18 wheeler took out drive rear panel on my TR. I can tell you if you want it done right, I would send it to Dave at Premier and let him take care of it with your insurance company.

I can tell you from experience that his work is better than Ferrari. Wait until you see my TR, you will agree with me.

Silver is a hard color to match and he did a fine job. It is little of a drive for you but it will be worth it.

I think you should still come to the show this weekend regardless.

Thanks guys. I'll post up more details soon...the story gets better.

Does anyone know if Mastercraft is still the same quality as when Jack Bianchi owned it? I heard that he sold it to the guys who worked for him.

OK, this is really getting to be a pain in the ass...here's the whole story

I go to East Beach to play beach volleyball like I do every weekend, but there is no parking on the street because of the breast cancer walk and a 10k run. So now I'm circling around looking for parking. I'm behind this Volvo SUV when he stops. I stop, he then puts it in reverse and starts backing up. I hit the horn thinking he'll realize that I'm behind him and stop. By the time I realize he is not going to stop, nothing I can do. Here's the dialogue...

Me: What the f___ are you doing??? Can't you see me???
Other Driver: You ran into me!
Me: (looking for witnesses) Did anyone see what happend? (located witness and getting info)
    OD: I need to go
Me: I'll get to you after I get his info
    OD: I need to leave
Me: Shut up. I'll get to you when I'm done.
    OD: I need to leave
Me: you leave and it will be a hit and run

    we exchange information

OD: You have to admit, you were an ********* when you got out of the car
Me: are you kidding me, you are calling me an *********
OD: you were dropping f bombs alll over
Me: you ran into my car
OD: OK I was in reverse, but I didn't realize I was backing up, admit you were an *********
Me: you better get out of my face (as I put my stuff down, assuming we are going to go to fist

Now I find out through the insurance company that he is claiming I ran into him. The witness does not speak very good english so I hope that they don't twist his words around.

Yes, I know I was upset, but wouldn't most when someone runs into your car (let alone your Ferrari). Then call me the *********.

Wish me luck (and patience to have to deal with these morons).

Henry, seeing as how the guy is going to hassle you and deny responsibility you might as well go for everything you can get. Get a statement from the witness.

You are entitled to 3 things

1, Your damage fixed with new parts

2, A comparable rental while your car is being fixed

3, Depreciation, you now own damaged goods

If the guy that hit you has one of the budget insurance companies they will try to lowball you. Don't fall for it.

As an example, when the guy backed into my 348 Progressives first offer to settle was 4700, ended up settling for 13,500

I'll second Bob's recommendation. I had Prestigious do the front end re-spray of my M6, which was a very difficult match due to the metallic (color-shifting) paint. They did a great job, kept me informed of progress, and were realistic about costs.

I've not had him work on my car but Mike Fitzpatrick, Fitzpatrick Auto body, on Guteirrez. He seems to be a stand up guy and was recommended by Emilio at A and A(Alfa guy). His shop isn't impressive but he was restoring Scneider's 356s body and paint so he must do good work.

Prestigious has a good rep in town as well. I've not had a good feeling with Mastercraft when I've talked to the. Julian at Winning Makes could help you or point you in a good direction as well. Sorry for you troubles, Hank

Thanks all. I was going to take it to Prestigious, but ultimately decided on John Briggs Motorsports...

They have had it for about 3 weeks now (I told them to take their time). I'll post up some pix once it's done. I wasn't too impressed with Mastercraft when I visited them. Hope to have it on the road soon.
