Side note, since my car will be at the workshop till at least next thursday... I gonna rewrap my steering wheel as the leather tends is peeling off the steering.... thinking of doing alcantara wrap, is it a good idea?

If you drive often or have sweaty plams then avoid alcantara or wearing gloves helps :)

You know the problem with car clubs these days? Their log in system is so annoying because by the time you have the time to check in, you're on the bench!

It went for the check and passed the check. Then shouldn't it not be the dealers problem? What am I missing here. You can't hold the dealer responsible for something if it passed an independent inspection. Though I see it's now just a cheap issue and u are now not going to claim from the dealer, I still don't see the logic of why they owe you anything if it passed an independent inspection. Sort of worries me... If I sold you a car and I looked after it well and then was more than happy for you to bring it for inspection. It passes inspection fully, then a month later it blows up and then I will be held liable by the buyer for that fact. What's the point of the inspection then? Might as well have just demanded a warranty from them and forget about the inspection.

Tough call. Inspection results may be ok at that point in time, but that doesn't mean issues will not crop up a day later. Gotta see what the issues are I guess.

Haha... yeah, oh well i guess I have to be lightning fast the next time... or maybe we can organize our own little drive together :D

First of all, the dealer brought it for inspection when he brought the car from the previous owner thus I thought it should'nt be a big problem. I not sure how the dealer had handle to car after the car is under their care but apparently when I took delivery of the car, the door has some mechanical problem which was fix after a day. No biggie..... So now after a month or so and I do not use this car as a daily driver nor track the car, the gearbox had some problems which do not allow me to engage reverse... So I was just checking over here with the guys... What could be the issue, if anyone had experience similar problems and at the same time ask more about the lemon law. Obviously if the repair cost is a brand new gearbox then I hope the dealer could bear some of the cost..... I don't intend to go to the dealer and say I am not prepared to bear any responsibilities on the repairs at all...

To be honest, I only took delivery of the car for 1 month... so I felt that maybe the dealer and I could come into some agreement on this... Of course, if its been months since I took the car... I would not have gone back to the dealer.... Besides if anything happens to the car within a month, usually the dealer would agree to do something about it... I just checking about the lemon law because I worry this might be a big repair bill and the dealer might not be very co-operative... My friend brought a F430 from him before and the car had crazy amount of issues within a month and the dealer has been nice enough to fix the car till the engine decides to give way and things got a little ugly between the dealer and my friend so i just wanted to avoid any unnecessary conflicts as long as I know what I can claim for and what I can't..... I hope this clears the air for you !

u gotta take the good with the bad jon ... the logging system shows no preference toward anyone ... 1st come 1st served ...

yeah, you could get benched if you are not fast enough ... but there are plenty of events ... 27 last year ... so it's really quite fair ...

I know what you mean mate cos in Malaysia, certain club events are well reserved only for the buddies of the president which really cheesed many people but can't they just keep the invites bigger or are there really so many members in Singapore?

Anyway, I hardly have time for events these days so won't complain.

Btw, are there entry gifts for FOCS? Can't remember if I ever had a club t-hirt or cap.

Well, we have the Lemon law these days which lasts 6 months if I'm not wrong but even with that, it makes the seller "make good" & come to an agreeable term for both parties. But the gearbox could fall under wear & tear so might not be worth anything for owner.

That's the problem with F1 gear box, they can screw up anytime, anywhere & many have had the "R" problem which warrants a flat bed. Has anyone heard of a gearbox issue on the Lambo E-gear barring worn clutch?

Not sure if Mike gave our David here a warranty on his car but he did on my GTC which was repaired a few times for free till I gave up.

David, did you not buy into ItalAuto's warranty programs?

Sure. We always have little gatherings of food & drive.

Anyway, glad that nothing major (yet! :D) comes out of your Scud. It's always a stroke of luck when dealing with used cars but sometimes even new cars can be a lemon. My ex-CS failed Ital's inspection miserably & they even refused to do a road test due to aged tyres so the previous buyer backed out. I didn't even send it for PPI nor a test-drive but after a general service, I went on to clock 3000+km trouble-free except a cracked header with the same old tyres up to Penang & Kuantan going through torrential rain & high speed dash. The car served well.

And then there are the lemons so sour that it hurts....

Hope the car I just bought doesn't give me any issues. Saving grace is it is still on extended warranty.

    true ...

social events restricted by restaurant size - no. of tables. driving excursions across the border restricted by logistics in handling the group size ...

p.s. the views above are my own and not the clubs' ... i'm not on the committee or privilege to their point of view.

u get a shirt when u turn up for the agm, and there are t-shirts designed for special drives - like the DOTY or the 3 club drive we had over the F1 weekend with FOCM & FOCHK.
