After several months my XKE is going back to CA where it was originally restored in the mid 1990s. It will be missed, as I had it for 14 years. All the BS about them not being reliable is crap. I bought a show car because I wanted the best car out there and I wanted to drive it. I did some upgrades over the years, better ignition, better rad and expansion tank, better shocks and springs and a SS header. She was great and always got thumbs up from older folks who actually knew what it was.

Some chef in CA will be driving and enjoying it for many years. Who knows some of you CA folks may see it out and about.

Wow - she's a beauty! I agree with you about the quality thing...I've had mine for 7-8 years, no issues other than battery drain, and that was my fault.

Sorry she had to go...maybe you'll get another some day!

Richard E. Darnell of More Than Just Cars Inc. Upland, Ca. He did XKEs and they were always near perfection. But not a factory like Classic Showcase or some of the other places out there.

My car was was 99.78 when it was originally judged and the story went Leno sent his folks to see it when it went up for sale, but it went to a person(SVP Oil guy who was over '6 "3 never knew how he drove it there not that roomy) in VA who kept it 2 years and then sold it to me in 1999.

    Yep... drop the top.

Friend had one, that's the only way he could drive it comfortably.

William, You said that 10 years ago and I offered my car to you for 65K. It was still almost perfect back then. Good luck in the hunt.

Height not an issue for me I'm '5 "10

I had 3 cars which I am/was selling to get a 512BBi, but after driving a few and with what folks are believing they are worth I'm not sure I will end up with one. So, I may get a 993tt or just keep my TVR Vixen and 308QV and put the money away for a while.

I agree......I have a '65. Never had a problem that it didn't warn me about. Always felt confident driving it anywhere. I'm guessing the later cars started those rumors. Sorry to see that car go but I bet it'll find a good home. Good luck with your next purchase.

I had a 65 also.. a coupe. One of the cars I miss the most.. only problem I every had was the fuel pump, it turned out to be a broken connection on the terminal.

dwhite, that is/was a beautiful roadster.
