This question is obviously not for those that are daily drivers, but for those of us that use our Ferrari's for special trips, events, quick trips, dinners, cars shows, and more.

Just curious of your favorite places to take your Ferrari? Just out for a cruise on a nice day? A favorite lunch or dinner spot?

I'll admit that I have been pretty picky where I've taken my high end sports cars in the past, and generally like to keep the car parked in a safe spot or within sight if possible (through a window, or whatever).

I know some of you don't drive your Ferrari, after all I've seen several 2006-2008 F430's with under 2K miles on them. :)

I know you said not for the daily driver group, but it's those daily driver activities that mean the most. I love hanging with the guys at Cars and Coffee of taking her to the occasional show. But it's actually shuttling the kids around that I find the most fun. The fit so perfectly and cutely in the back seats of the 612, snug as bugs in a rug. Love picking my son and his classmate up from Kindergarten.

The 599 HGTE is practically my daily and I take it pretty much everywhere. Quiet state route backroads are a big favorite but anywhere and any time. Sometimes the weather catches up to me and I need a tow. Over 16,000 miles and plenty of rock chips in the past 2 1/2 years. I'll fix the rock chips every 2 years, keep changing the oil and keep driving. It's a fantastic Ferrari. Couple pictures, one pheasant hunting and another as I was caught in a pop up snowstorm. Snow mode was no help as the torque on the rear wheels kicked the rear out when automatically downshifting. That was fun for about 30 seconds and then the snow kept on coming and I had to stop before it got too sporty. Take these cars everywhere, they deserve to be driven.

Yup, all of those places and more. I am picky as well, but my wife insists we take it places I would not. However, since she was so supportive about letting me buy this car with absolutely no grief, I have to acquiesce. :)

I think the real question that should be asked, is why NOT use it as a daily driver ?

Mon-Fri in good weather drive the Fcar to lunch. Usually I pick a place to eat 20-30 miles away. this frequently turns into some side trips through the mountains. sometimes the loop goes thru Glenwood Spgs, Glenwood Cyn, Eagle, Vail, Minturn, Leadville, Independence Pass and back to Aspen. this can take 4-5 hours. another loop goes over McLure Pass, Paonia, Delta, Gateway and Grand Mesa. Or we may go to Black Cyn of the Gunnison Nat'l Park or Colorado Monument near Grand Junction. Sometimes my wife goes with me, sometimes I go by myself.

so far I have put on over 10k miles from May thru mid-October. Need I say that driving a Ferrari on twisty roads in the Colorado mountains is about as good as it gets. Little traffic and beautiful views.

    Life is good.
Life is better driving a Ferrari.
Life is best driving a 458 Spider with the top down.

I've made a few 200+ trips in the 458, but my favorite drives are cruises on some twisty roads. We have quite a number of those on the North Shore of Long Island. A couple of weeks ago, I took a drive with Mrs. Ski Bum on Seven Lakes Drive between Sloatsburg and Bear Mountain (a bit further upstate), as well as some of the fabulous roads that branch off the Drive. I commend it highly.

I generally stay away from parking lots and have never submitted to valet parking. The valets can play with some of my other cars.

That is too bad about the snow. I put all season tires on my car for the purpose of variable weather. I find my car handles great in the wet and snow, feels so confident but I probably have 1/3 to 1/2 less HP and mid engine.

I like using my car for extended road trips. If I'm going any distance or away for a couple days I want it to be the Ferrari. I also use it for groceries and taking visiting friends and neighbors for a ride. I only try to limit short trips. Unless I can put 20 miles on it and get it fully warmed up I'll pass. I do like taking it to costco. Good 50 to 60 mile round trip.

Mine' s definitely a weekend car. Even so, I've managed to put 5k miles on it in the one year I've owned it. We go exploring around central Texas, and usually have lunch someplace out in the boonies.

There are a couple things different from prior Porsche ownership. I don't take the f-car on overnight trips and I don't go to places where I'm might be concerned about parking. While this puts a damper on what otherwise would probably be a great car for longer trips, I don't want to leave it unprotected ( like in a hotel parking lot)

I'm not an owner, yet (I have a defined goal and will buy once I meet it), but I couldn't imagine buying a car that I won't take anywhere and everywhere. What's the point in buying one if you don't want to drive it?

You're mixing two different things; i.e. taking your Ferrari-to-be "anywhere and everywhere" and the idea of buying one and not wanting to drive it.

I want to drive my car and I do so more than the average Ferrari owner, but I definitely do NOT take it anywhere and everywhere. Here's why.

My 2000ym Ferrari 360 Modena is nearly 14 years old and, with the exception of a few stone dings, has near perfect paint and zero dents. This is the result of me and the previous two owners NOT taking the car everywhere.

Here are two quick examples. In Italy, where I live, the parking places are small and if you treat an aluminum car as if it's a daily driver, you will quickly pick up a load of door dings. In addition, there are countless stores and other places I regularly go in my Fiat which have dips and/or speed bumps over which my Ferrari simply cannot pass. The same goes for some of my favorite motorcycle roads which feature pot holes and high-center places in the pavement which would damage or strand my Ferrari. In other words, there are some places my Ferrari simply can't go and there are many others where I don't want to go because I know that my car will be damaged.

I don't know about you, but taking my nice car which many people describe as looking like "brand new" and quickly turning it into a beater by taking it everywhere is just not my idea of how I should treat a Ferrari. It's a special car and as far as I'm concerned, it deserves special treatment. Plus, that's exactly the way I like it. I don't want it to be a daily driver or some kind of beater Ferrari full of dents and dings with big parts of the plastic under tray dragging along behind me. I like owning a car which is beautiful on the outside, well maintained on the inside, and which provides a special experience when I drive it.

When I go to a Ferrari gathering, my very nice looking car holds it's own when it's parked next to 50 or 60 other equally nice looking Ferraris, all of which are also in wonderful condition, both old and new. NONE of them have door dings and that's because none of them are taken everywhere and anywhere. So, I'm not alone in the way I treat my special car, even though most of these cars are driven regularly, including mine.

But that's just me. You, on the other hand, may indeed take your future Ferrari everywhere and anywhere as a daily driver, but you can expect your cost per mile to be VERY high when you eventually sell the car if you don't restrict how you use it.

Our 612 is sort of an 8th car, so it never really goes anywhere (normally take our 928 GTS out on the weekends) but we live in a very rural area on Lake Gaston, so we have nice twisty roads all around us. Typically when the Ferrari goes out, it goes on a circuitous 10 mile drive into the nearest town and back. Very fun roads here, though with some being very curvy and others very straight. Nice scenery too.

I had my boxer during College. So I drove it to College, college party's, dates, movies and even a funeral on a rainy day. (Boy did I get chewed out for that one by my father)!!!! but once Enzo passed, The price went up and I got me a second car. A Jeep Cherokee. That was the end of my Boxer as an everyday car. Till this day.

Very good response... some people just don't get this. It doesn't have to be a daily driver, and to me, it's more special if it isn't... and if I don't have to worry about vandals, jealous people out to key it, etc.
