400k is completely absurd in any condition.

I see prices mentioned from 375 back to 275 then 175 back to 400
The fact of matter is that the dino has reached a Plato.
There are around 12 for sale at all time in the us alone.
Even good ones are having a hard time selling on ebay at 275.

It's obvious that the dino has reached levels that are unsustainable.

Let's imagine paying for a dino 300k that has had a 400 percent upswing in the last 4 years.
Does every one think that these cats will keep going up an other 200k in the next 4 years?

When you see ferrari 330 GTC selling for 500k v12.

The dino is now in the churning mill and the price will re adjust in the years to come.
Specially if the interest creeps up to 5 percent.

It all about supply and demand.
There will always be one for sale.
Don't get me wrong the dino is a fantastic car with a nice little engine.
It a car that allot of people desire. But it just got ahead of its self.

God bless the new buyers at these levels.

I don't know what "Scored Platinum at Concorso Arizona in April 2007" means, but it sounds pretty good to me. If it sold for $175k in 2007, like freestone said, then I would imagine that it would be at least double that price today (especially if it is still in concours condition).

Iceblue, if you can find a nice 330 GTC for $500k, buy it!!

in the latest FML there are 6 246 GTS listed: 295k, 298k, 338k, 345k, 399k. None claim to be 100 point restoration cars. and a black/tan went for 450k at one of the recent auctions...

Plato: Greek philosopher, circa 428 to 348 BC. I am pretty sure he drove a Pinot (Ooppss!! I meant a Pinto), although he really wanted to drive a Dyno.

Plateau: a relatively flat plain, an area of higher - relatively level - ground. Or, a period of relatively stable financial factors.

Given the recent auction results, has the view on value changed?
    It could be for sale.

seems like values are strong and holding well into the 400s for ultra clean cars...tough to argue against that....

Lower black paint line is wrong, missing pouch and some books, missing windshield washer bag, Pirelli tires, tired dash.

In recent discussion with my insurance company the 246 GTS has a range of values $375k-425k

I love you guys. It is a beautiful day here, I think I'll take my Plato'd Dyno for a spin.

I know we all have these stories but in 1995, I had just completed my residency and succumbed to feelings of delayed gratification and went to Ferrari of Dallas to look at a Ferrari.
There were two cars there in my budget back then . A 1978 308 GTS and a red Dino. Bill McAbee told me not to even consider the Dino, "underpowered, slow..."
I obviously bought the 308. Great memories.
