Does anyone have any photos of SVJ chassis 4860's engine bay, preferably in colour? Mr Sackey maybe?

    Yes, any specific reason?

I'll have to dig some print images out and scan them. These were given to me when the German owner offered me the car about 15 years ago.

    Two reasons:
    1) I collect 1/18 scale Lamborghini models and Kyosho have just released a diecast version of this exact car. I've noticed a couple of apparent inaccuracies just from the few photos of the model released so far. The engine of this model has some funky details so I'm curious to know if it's accurate, and;
    2) It's a fascinating machine and probably the pick of the SVJ's for me. I've searched here and elsewhere and can't find any clear photos of the engine bay on the real car.

    Thanks and regards.

    Excellent!

    My pleasure.

Don't put any stock in the configuration shown in these 15-year-old images, as it is probably not original or may have changed.

I am made to understand that Hubert Hahne returned this one to the factory for a makeover in the late 70s whereupon the original SVJ guise of Nero/Bianco was changed to Argento/Nero. I also understand that of all the SVJs this is the only one with a 110-liter long-range fuel tank. Also, all the chrome brightwork around windows & lamps was deleted in favor of satin black.

    They're great, thanks Joe.
It would appear that either Kyosho have chosen to depict their 4860 as accurately as possible given manufacturing limitations or the current (Japanese?) owner has made some minor cosmetic changes e.g. Jota rear badge missing (Kyosho use the normal Miura one) and Kyosho have modelled the regular Miura wheels. Also, some of the engine bay components have been painted blue and pink on Kyosho's version!
Obviously these things can and probably have changed over the years as you said.

Here's Kyosho's 4860 engine detail. If I get end up getting one I'll post better pics in the "Collectables, Literature and Models" general forum.

I brokered this car to Japan in 2000. Prior to pick up in Bonn, Germany, the new owners agent came over from Tokyo and we had a test-run with the car.
After warming up I drove it -almost- flat out on the then very empty German autobahn! Back at the workshop the agent refused to get out of the car and asked for more....! I fullfilled his wish with a green Diabolo 6.0! Hah!....

Well, there was a tendency that the front section became "light" - but I was 13 years younger and then not afraid of taking risks...:)

But driving flat out a 930 Porsche Turbo in 1977 frightened me more. This car became veeeery light on the front.

Is the top of the dashboard covered with alcantara? Was possible to make such an order back then? It looks pretty special! Which car is it?

The image was flipped (see "Lamborghini" logo on cam-cover of the flipped image), as seen often on the world-wide web.

    Fixed.

4863 is ex Rod Stewart. See the b&w pic below shown on a TV programme about Rod Stewart of the Miura S on the right with the registration JLL 831K. See the youtube video at about 4.53. The car is being auctioned by RM Auctions, now in its SV look. See here: 1971 Lamborghini Miura P400 S | Paris 2014 | RM AUCTIONS I'm almost certain I saw this car in 1976 when it was for sale along with the ex Elton John SV 4830. It was painted red with non original 4 exhaust tail pipes. I also remember the seats had velvet or cloth centres.

    From his Autobiography:

For Stewart, the regrets department seems closed. Unless you count selling a prized Lamborghini Miura SV a few years back for a paltry $9,000, when today that rare model will fetch more than a million dollars. "My kids were all railing on me, 'Why did you sell that car, Dad!' " says Stewart. "But, hey, they come, they go. I don't know anything about how cars work, and I don't want to. I just love the lines of them. They're exotic and fast, and I've known women with both those qualities."

You defiantly saw it, Red with different seats, I first saw it in the late 70s, it was at Colin Grant's showroom in the Finchley Road London, I also looked at it when Portman Lamborghini had a showroom in Denham UK in about 1982

Thanks, Stephen. The reason I said I am almost certain is that my memory incorrectly tells me that the car registration was JLL 833K, not JLL 831K. JLL 833K may have been on a Porsche. I was 12 years old at the time so it is just my memory playing tricks on me. I also saw the car being advertised by Colin Grant in Motor Sport magazine in the late seventies too which backs up you seeing the car for sale there of course. I'll try and get some Motor Sport magazines from this period to find the advert. I'd also like to find the classified advert from where I saw the ex Elton John Miura SV and ex Rod Stewart Miura S being advertised together in Autocar or Motor late in 1975 or early 1976 by the same seller which brought my attention to the car. I remember ringing the number which I think may have been Hitchin 592222.

Nice link with lots of photos!

The " early S" to "SV" conversion looks really weird with the eye lashes however!

Very confused. It has P400, S, and SV detail. I must say, the detailer is a good one no doubt.

Non SV front grill, the back end looks wrong with the wheels not filling the arches and cheapo BF Goodrich tyres, which may be dangerously only S rated for speeds up to 112 mph.

Ferruccio Lamborghini's Miura SV 5028 (now with Tonino) has eyelashes, a rare application on an SV, and I think it looks very cool.
