Is there such a color?

Is/was there a Ferrari color called Mario Andretti red? I have a customer that wants a little brit car paint "Mario Andretti red" claims it is a Ferrari color. Says it is the "classic Ferrari red". Thanks for your help.

 

I'm guessing he means Rossa Corsa (aka Italian Racing Red).

 

He raced for Ferrari in 1971, winning his first F1 race in South Africa in this car. The color is, as noted, Rosso Corsa, otherwise known as Ferrari Racing Red. You should be able to find it, or mix it, pretty easily given its popularity.

Although he drove for SF, he won the World Championship in a Ford Cosworth powered Lotus.

Andretti Red might really be British Racing Green. LOL

really doubt that SF would name a color after him. and I have never heard of such a color.

Do not see a Rosso Andretti or a Andretti rosso.

Thought I read here on another thread that Rossa Corsa has shifted slightly in color over the years, with it being a bit more "red" in the past and having slightly more orange now. If the client is really well informed maybe he means that, if not Rossa Corsa it is.

 

There are many many Rosso Corsas. eg Glasurit FER 300/6, Glasurit FER 300/9, Glasurit FER 300/12 are all different versions of Rosso Corsa. Depends on the year/model.

If you see a 300/6 car next to a 300/9 the difference is quite noticeable, the 300/9 is more orange.
