The numbers are material and mean something, I'm just not sure what.
In the end, I think only a small % of Ferrari owners are on this site. Ferrari's limited production against a WW opportunity will probably keep them doing exactly what they have been doing.

For my part, I too think I'm done with overly finicky cars for a bit. I really miss my Gallardo. It may have been mostly Audi underneath but it was super reliable and fun to drive. I never worried about surprises. That's a car I wish I wouldn't have sold.

I disagree. I have had 5 Ferrari's and the experience with all of them has been great in different ways. They have been mostly trouble free and I cant wait to get the next one.

I'm an equal opportunity car lover. Porsche and Ferrari are both amazing brands. I will own one of each forever.

I am a fan of having multiple exotics to switch up and keep the driving experience fresh. I think it is human nature to grow accustomed and bored with just once option, no matter how great it is. The limiting factor (assuming you have 458 cash in the first place) is mostly garage space, but assuming those can be overcome, I like constantly changing/deciding which car to drive today. I want a 458 like everyone else, but for $200k+ right now I would prefer to have my 360, 911 turbo, and g35 coupe and add and Aston Martin Vantage next summer, all for less than the price of a used 458.

Like others have said, the newest cars are overengineered and overpowered. More power is great, and I want as much as I can have, but there are diminishing returns past a certain point. To me, beauty, feel, value, and sound are more imprtant factors. I also don't like all the modern nannies that are getting harder and harder to switch all the way off.

In any event, I guess my point is maybe to use the same budget for a new car to buy a fleet of lightly used and already modified exotics to be able to have a unique experience on a regular rotating basis.

    Well Mayor.....

If it no longer "floats your boat" and you are sick of the BS dealers, vote with your feet and take a walk.

I love my CS.... it's raw and involving, and bullet proof over the 3 years I've had it. Probably because I actually drive it, rather than hold it hostage in a garage. I have done the same thing with a TR, 308, Mondial t, 348 and an F40, and all were massive smile makers.... and dead on reliable.

Attention...... It is what it is. If you bought one of these and don't like meeting new people, you are in the wrong car.

Never bought from a Ferrari store. I figured out long ago that they haven't figured out customer care and... "when you sell something that nobody needs and is vastly overpriced, you need the customer more than they need you". No money from me to them... thank you!

I also generally do my own service work, and they are relatively easy to work on, and run great when I do the work. The only problem I ever had with a Ferrari was when an authorized dealer screwed up and refused to make good. Lesson learned. An SD2 is in my future for the CS.

Are there bad aspects to Ferrari ownership? Sure. But there is good and bad in everything. As long as I stay away from the arrogant dealers, and some of the national club members who can't drive, but find that their prancing horsey IS their identity, the cars always put a big smile on my face... especially when I'm attacking a great road or track.

But I feel your pain... Who in their right mind would spend $50-$70K on CF trim options? Ferrari is crazy....... crazy like a fox. As long as their are willing idiots to fleece...

    Yes...but forever seems a little optimistic. ;)

If I had to pick one it would be the 458. But the Pcar is a sweet ride. I would miss it.

Hint: 10k+ miles in 5 months on the Fcar (no problems). 17k in 2.5 yrs on the Pcar (no problems).

My thoughts exactly. We've seen the pictures of the mayor driving the F12 and read his reactions to the car. So Mayor, what status is your order in?

    Isn't that what I did?

I still don't understand why this is about "me". It's not 30 pages of what I did or how I feel that matter. It's 30 pages of people saying there's something going on here in their current direction that we need, as enthusiasts of the marque, have issues with.

And I'm not talking about all F cars. I'm talking about buying new ones. So, enjoy your CS because in many ways, it's not the soft GT feel that I think they are going for now. I'm pretty sure you would agree with me on that.

The Mayor is taking a lot of heat on this for bringing up points that people seem to be afraid to realize. I've disagreed with him in past threads, but I've got to say that I do think Ferrari is doing a lot of the things wrong that Mercedes did. They're really targeting that 50+ owner who has owned a couple Ferraris and are almost actively pushing the first time exotic buyer away from the marque. This worked in the past before Lamborghini really became a volume competitor, before Nissan offered a car for 1/3 the price, before Porsche developed relationships with Carrera GT buyers by selling daily driver Cayennes and Panameras and Audi started making a decent sports car, not to mentions McLaren's resurgence. The game has changed significantly and for a young buyer to be told no you can't order what you want until you buy a couple cars you don't really want just isn't going to cut it. I know at least two people who went out and bought competing vehicles because Ferrari was too big and mighty for their orders. Say what you want about Maserati serving as the intro to the Ferrari experience, Porsche has done a much better job with their daily drivers developing relationships thus far. In my opinion, Ferrari needs to realize that to remain relevant long term they're going to have to find a way to make sure they don't lose all of their younger customers to competing firms.

I tried a Mac and it's got the same issues I have with the 458 -- only more so. It just doesn't have a personality at street legal street speeds. The Mac IS a perfect GT at normal speeds.

I don't want a GT feel. I want some emotion, like you used to get with F cars up until the last current crop.

I'm not asking everyone to agree with me. But, if we are afraid to say what is going wrong, what's going to change? Nothing.

Love the Catheram! Haven't bought one but I also like the Ariel Atom for similar reasons.

But, these are not serious cars you can take on the street most of the time.

Dude, sounds like you just need to buy an F40 and be done with changing cars every year. Just get the 'perfect' car and be done.
