Wow - your wife will love your post when she starts looking up what you are doing on FCHAT! I wonder what she'd say about you!!
Matthias - When did the headlight covers first appear on your car? It doesn't look like they were on the car at LeMans, but it appears they were on it at the Chicago Auto show. Also, where did you get the headlight covers (and the necessary hardware for them) that are on it now? Mark
Another question . . . It looks like there was a BMW 2002 two cars behind yours. It looks pretty strange seeing that upright boxy sedan at LeMans at that time. I just checked the entries for 1972 and I couldn't find an entry for a BMW 2002, but I did find one for a BMW 2800CS, but in the photo (at least from the angle below) it doesn't look much like a 2800CS.... It's a red 2002 with n°59. Pilots were Smokey Drolet and Rosemary Smith. Another 2002 started with n°58.
Matthias - But still, what is the history on the headlight covers? When were they first on it? And, are the ones you have on it now the same ones that were on it when Mershons had it? Or, did you source the covers and associated hardware elsewhere? Mark
the Nart-team put them on, as all the other motifications.... AutoSport did a new pair for me, tailored at my Dino, so they fitt 100%....
This picture was actually taken at the New York Auto Show 5th -13th of April 1969! So after the race at Sebring. Thanks to Marcel Massini for letting me know that I was wrong with my guess of the Chicago Auto Show. The numbers on the car before the race never made really sence.... Chinetti sold the car on the 15th of April 1969, so just two days after the New York Auto Show. I`m looking for further pictures from the New York Auto Show now.... any help appreciated. Regards Matthias
Does anybody know where I can get some N.A.R.T. patch badges which can be added on cloth, looking like this badge. Image Unavailable, Please Login
If you cannot source originals but have the dimensions plus high quality original artwork a company like this will be able to replicate them for you. Stand 21 Racewear > Embroidery and patches
ideally approx. 70 x 105 mm I would look for 5 to 10 patch badges on the internet I can only find stickers/decals....
It looks like the Goodyear and Nart sticker were put on at the race day. During training (day before the race) these stickers can`t be find on the Dino. See pictures with Goodyear sticker taken during the race and at New York Auto show in April 1969... and Nart sticker on the front wing... I´m just coming back from Padua and met beside many other lovely Dino fellows Andrew Beaumont and Keith Wintraub from the United States. What a please that was, great guys, true enthusiasts. At the second day we sat down for a quick lunch at the fair and suddenly Andrew presented the original lap & pit records of my Nart-Dino 206 GT no.38 Sebring 1969. "Matteias, these documents belong to your car" Andrew thank you so much for your great present!!! Fantastic!!! The pit records shows that 12 to 15 gal. gas was put into the Dino at every gas pit stop. That suggests that no additional fuel tank was in the trunk. Brakes and tyres have been changed twice during race and the radiator once. Also twice water hose problems.... It was an absolute pleasure to meet you Matthias and all the other Dino owners and Marcel at Padua, and to put this document in your care with the car. Also thanks to Stuart who looked after these documents before me, and the previous enthusiasts who ensured this was not lost over the past 40+ years. Keith and I had a fantastic time and we are exhausted but talking about the next trip! Best, Andrew
What a great show. While there were some interesting bits for sale at the show, the best part was spending time with Andrew, Matthias, and the band of merry Dino owners from Europe. I hope to do this again. Kind regards, Keith
