i wouldn't have a clue. in that video though, it wasn't the clutch. everyone was saying he left the ebrake on. that's why it was making weird noises when he was driving it. rear wheels didn't wanna turn!
and i would suggest it was the clutch in that video, having had one go in mine in the past it is exactly that look and from where the smoke was coming from, def clutch. the sound it was making was the pressure plate coming apart against the throw out bearing, most likely. Either way, painful to watch and an expensive dinner out for sure. . as an fyi, backing uphill in an e-gear Gallardo is the fastest way to eat up a clutch.
I park it and keep the keys or I eat somewhere else - period. Never had an issue at Del Friscos, Shanahans, Flemings, Inverness etc. Took TR to Elways and they refused to let me park it so had nice drive back to Del's
Four Seasons downtown/Edge Restaurant valet didn't let me park my car but he just basically backed out my car to that spot while I was still there. If my car an exotic maybe they'll let me park myself Image Unavailable, Please Login
i've seen that 599 and mp4-12c spider both at elways, but on different days. the valet guys are nice enough to let me take pictures. a ton of people like me who have fun finding exotic cars often get told to leave valet areas.
my friend these cars are meant to be photographed and enjoyed, they really are art. piss on those who make u leave
i personally haven't had any of them tell me to leave, but i can tell when i go to the valet at the cherry creek mall those valet guys are always looking at me, and i can tell they don't want me there. the valet guy at elways is nice. i know in dubai they outlawed taking pictures of exotic cars at the airports and hotels because so many people were doing it.
i have found that if i am with the car most people are great and very respectful and ask if they can take a pic.
Kind of the antithesis of valet.... BTW depending on how close to the door you park (or access curb of the business), they should never be letting you keep the keys in case of fire. I worked valet at a casino for years and this was a VERY big deal. So much so that we ended front park altogether and everyone's income took a 20% hit. Even in IOWA we parked Ferraris and Lamborghinis, so to most valets it's not as big a deal as you think. Honestly guys, if you're this protective, don't bother taking it out.
its not about being overly protective, its about liability and the fact a valet has none once they get your keys. I have had to repair more than one exotic over the years based on a valet not having any idea how to use my car. sooo if i can't park it (and avoid any chance of damage) i will go elsewhere as the damage ultimately falls to my pocketbook.
Best place to have a car valet'd is Elway's at the Ritz. Tom is the captain there and especially if he knows you and your car, front row and only he parks it. A nice tip is helpful. I found the 4 Seasons to be only one step above the worst...Ocean Prime. Worst valet's ever at Ocean Prime. They jack your seats, radio and you'll have no idea where they take it. I never took the Ferrari there but my DD MB is no corolla and I was pissed. That's not to mention it's 8 bucks for them to park in the lot you can park the car yourself a block away. So they want a tip on top after jacking your car. Elway's at the Ritz is my favorite and I tip Tom well each time, it's the only place I have valet'd my Ferrari. Plus the food and service is great. Valet is part of the experience, the first part, and if it sucks it generally ruins my whole evening because all I can think about is what is happening to my car.
agree on Elways downtown, Tom is awesome and never has any issues with me parking it... and like anywhere, a good $20 tip goes a long way
I don't do valet... Friends son worked valet for a couple summers... that's where he learned how to drive a manual transmission!!!!! Arrrrgh...
Saw a red 308 (I think... I was driving in a traffic mess) this morning at a meter near the Starbucks at 2nd and Fillmore, Cherry Creek. No time to get a pic.
I never understood the taking an exotic to dinner, driving in the city is not much fun, parking is a pain and way too many valet horror stories. I would much rather leave the Fcar at home and take the daily driver and enjoy an evening out for dinner. When I want to drive, I get out of the city and hit the mountain roads.
A red F430 with a challenge grille rolled up next to me on Lincoln at 6th ave around 4pm today. Sounded great!
Me and a couple friends made this page for facebook where you can post your pictures of any exotic/classic/rare cars you see in Colorado. Would be great to see some more people participate in the page. https://www.facebook.com/UsAndColoradoCarSpotting
You are a man after my own heart. May the horse be with you. BTW one of my favorite drives was up Lookout Mountain the twisty way. Very little traffic mid-week. Lots of great drives but the weekends sucked. Early Sunday mornings worked though. Best
You are absolutely correct, these days bicycles rule on Lookout and the tourists have trouble passing them. Even early weekend mornings are tough and I will generally only attempt that route on a motorcycle. I will have to try a mid week drive up sometime. Many of the canyon drives that used to be low traffic have now turned into car vs bicycle events that have drawn the attention of our LEO friends. Deer Creek is a good example (I hear that they target the arrogant cyclists as well as the frustrated cages). Early is the key. My favorite early morning route for an impromptu jaunt is up Golden Gate to 119, north to 72 and back down to Golden. However, the floods have torn up 72 pretty badly and have not been up since the devastation. Brock
