Jay's one of the world's greatest car enthusiasts. He can do whatever he wants. His passion for steam engine cars is unique and wonderful to see.

You might also ask why Ralph Lauren is "hung up" on Ferrari as he has one of the world's greatest F car collections.

The answer: people like what they like.

    +1.
The guy has the right to like and dislike whatever he wants for whatever reason. Are some Ferrari owners that insecure they need to get to the bottom of why someone doesn't like their brand of car? Wow!

I'd also like to ask ol' Ralph why he sold his 599 GTO so fast.

    Very true.

Jay is a big McLaren fan. I think this also grinds on some. For me, Jay and I agree on this:

The McLaren F1 is probably the greatest car ever made in the modern era -- and there ain't nothing wrong with saying that.

I'll tell you something funny. My boss has a purple-ish Mercedes G wagon that was brought in as a Euro model and federalized about 20 years ago.

    The first owner: Ralph Lauren.

That is pretty random. LOL. Any other tweaks to it? The 599 had custom interior material in place of the F1 technical fabric.

Says a lot considering he can drive whatever he wants. He seems a no BS type of guy that knows his way with a wrench.

If Leno ever does get bit by the Ferrari bug, market prices on old Enzo era cars will probably go up...

Didn't the Mayor say he was tired of the Ferrari service too? trend?

I think Jay likes the eclectic interesting cars, I have seen him cruise the field numerous times in Monterey and LA he is always drawn to the Fiat, Lancia or Monterverdi. Odd as it may sound there are a lot of people that are interested in Italian cars NOT Ferrari.

Jay just borrows Ferraris from his buddies.

Carolla said Leno drove the heck out of his car, much harder than Carola would have done himself on the old girl.

    Yup, agreed.

I love Leno, and I love Ferraris. Couldn't care less if never the twain shall meet.

One needs to consider the dealer and not the car brand. Most dealers are not worth spit. It is those who are exceptional that get and keep the customer regardless of age.

Service matters in the service industry. If you treat a customer bad, it reflects poorly on the entire brand for that customer. Doesn't matter if it is true or not in Jay Leno's case, it happens all the time with normal people. People don't come back again to something they had a bad experience with, they find alternatives.

This is why the thread that The Mayor started generated such buzz. He's just one guy but people are concerned it may foreshadow a trend that would be bad for Ferrari.

Reminds me of when I was at an autoshow once and walked up to a new Jag to see the window sticker and some broad runs up and locks the door on it practically running in to me. I guess they left it open after showing it to someone. I guess I'm not Jag material, for one thing I'm not a 65 year old woman and also I don't like setting fire to my money.
