Lol @ the thread merge and the title of it going forward. :D:D:D:)
sorry... bumping just a few threads on point from the last 12 months was easier and funnier (to me) than reporting it (which seems over the top). Next time I know which one to find and give a link to.
Jay seems to know what Ferrari is all about. As a the Mayors thread as showen, many people are not happy with their purchases. Maybe Jay figured it out long before anybody else on here did. The dissatisfaction has also trickled down to the F12/FF section The poor paint work is getting even worse.
My .02 cents about all this. Have had my 360 less than a year and I love it! However, after reading Mr. Leno's comments, as well as others, Ferrari ownership can be very disturbing. One should NOT have to seek out a certain dealership to receive proper service...period. My own frustration and lack of understanding, surrounds the "stickies" problem. Why a manufacturer would continue making cars KNOWING this problem exists is nuts and opening themselves to lawsuits. FNA could have, and should have, done something to help those with this or similar problems. Having to fork over $3K to have a Ferrari problem fixed is shameful. I could go on but...enough already.
Ferrari ownership is not for everyone. Ferrari should not change who they are especially for their lowest priority customers. If it doesnt work for you there is always McLaren, Maserati, Porsche, and the rest of them
That's really not what this is about. Ferrari has a number of issues in the QC department, that should have been delt with long ago. But they have refused. This shows a total disrespect to the people who buy Ferrari's. Many of these issues would be completely unacceptable with other makes and they would be corrected. Ferrari has made it a business to continually slap people in the face and I think Leno caught on to thier game many years ago, and will have no part in it.
They should also treat their "low priority" customers nicely and honestly. Low priority customers can become "high priority" customers in the future. Of course if treated poorly enough, they can also become "non customers". I love my Ferrari, but I don't have brand loyalty that is strong enough to keep me coming back if they treat me like crap. There is no excuse for me to have a horrible experience buying my first Ferrari. I was treated ok when in front of their face, and I was treated politely, however, I was continuously lied to. There was no follow up on their promises (until I forced them to follow up) and it left a bitter taste in my mouth. I NEVER had such a poor experience buying a car, and I've bought dozens of cars in the past. This was the most expensive car that I've purchased to date, with the worst customer care....why? I didn't hold that against Ferrari though. I would buy another but of course I would be more careful. I have to admit, if I have another poor experience, I'll probably go back to Porsche. People who treat me poorly, or lie to me have no business accepting my money.
Absolutely gorgeous. Only thing better would be an Aperta in those colors or an Enzo in the same colors.
They are meant to be driven and I fortunately have not faced any QC issues. This may be an issue largey dependent on model and technological developments. I believe anything 360 or newer is very good in the QC dept...besides anything 15 years or older can expect some issues
I have never been lied to by any authorized dealer. I have also never been treated poorly but then again I always think ahead and wear decent clothes. Some people wear the most casual clothes and it looks so bad especially when going to a nice place.
Agree about the driving part. But disagree on the model and tech development. Stickie interiors have been an issue since 1991 with the 348. This issue continues to be a problem. Exhaust manifolds have been an issue on the v8 models beginning with the 355 in 1995, and carrying on right up to the 458. Leather Dashboard boards shrinking is an issue all Ferrari's have had since 1995. Lousy leather that looks like it's been through the ringer in less then 10k miles. Why hasn't Ferrari fixed any of these issues? This is just the tip of the iceberg btw.
It had nothing to do with my clothes or anything like that because they treated me like a king during the whole process (to my face). I even remember telling people that I was sensing that they just kept trying to tell me what I want to hear, and I have a feeling that when the car gets delivered that none of the stuff will be taken care of......unfortunately, I was right. I confirmed that the issues not being done were not a mistake either. It was an obvious case of them not caring because I was in NY and they were in FL. They didn't view me as a "repeat" customer. I still don't understand that logic though. I saw the car I wanted and flew to FL a few days later to check it out (not even knowing if I was going to buy it). Why would they think that I wouldn't do that again? I refuse to give that dealer a cent of my money at this point, but I'll still buy a Ferrari in the future as of now.
Authorized or not no Ferrari owner deserves this but it just shows how great the cars really are from the stuff we put up with!
Never imagined Fcar owners being so obsessed with a bland talk show host just cause he likes cars. I guess next will be a thread on what Kim Kardashian drives.... What a waste of time.....
bentley gt. Bieber has a white 458. 2 second google search no need for a thread. I think the problem here is Jay Leno has a very respectable unbiased opinion. So for him that owns as many cars as he does to stay away from a brand says something. As far as modern cars he only buys the truly special and great ones. Like the ford gt, CGT, mclarens, etc..... There is no drama to get these cars. He has a lot of money and if he doesn't want to deal with the drama of acquiring a ferrari because of dealer games then he'll just take a ride in his f1 or p1 instead. Getting a pagani or koengsegg is easier than getting a special ferrari.
The fact he doesn't own a Ferrari means his opinion is not unbiased. But I have always felt opinion implies bias. Fact is unbiased, interpretation isn't.
That isn't true. He just doesn't want to play the game. He doesn't have to like everyone else. He can buy whatever he wants when he wants and has many other toys to play with. Yea some on here may be wealthy and buy a new ferrari every year or have 3 super cars but none of you have a warehouse full of them.
it seems that a new subtopic should be created or threads merged :=) ... one for those that have burned out on the marque... there are similarities in the stories behind what Leno and The Mayor have experienced... a common thread they have is the need to jump through hoops and backside kissing that comes into play in dealing with pre and post sales Ferrari issues... Ferrari comes at a premium price point with attitude to match, no longer a true custom builder but rather a nearly mass produced product that on occasion misses with their quality control and customer service. At these lofty price points the product should not have any issues during the initial ownership period and should have sufficient margin both for the factory and the dealer to be able to make a good product or at least make appropriate corrections without alienating the customer. At these levels no one is pinching pennies and should be made to feel they are getting value not pissing away dollars.
So is Leno apparently. My wife's cousin knows him and has visited him and his collection. He's pretty down to earth from what I've been told.
Wow this debate is still going on??? Come one guys. Leno is a gearhead who has tons of very interesting, desirable and (at times) funky cars. I am in awe at his collection, his passion, his wealth of knowledge, the people he employs to maintain them, and how he enjoys them. So he doesn't care for Ferrari. So f**king what???
